    5.2

In an era when defenses were built around stopping the run, they still couldn't stop Jim Brown from attaining a 5.2 yards per rush career average. Sanders is second with 5.0 and the rest except for Peterson a little bit aren't even sniffing 5.0

This case is now officially closed and permanently sealed.

plus he was in a movie with Raquel Welch , those guys were in mattress commercials or if they were lucky Taco Bell. Emmitt would probably do an ad for a pawn shop or payday lender

I think they had a scene together in bed.

That alone should make Brown the greatest of all time. ;)

I couldn't let this go. I would take Smith, Brown, Payton, Campbell and even O.J over Sanders. :o In a heartbeat.

I realize it’s impossible to talk sense into guys who think outside of reality but let’s try this Steve, if yards per carry Is your benchmark for who is the best ever then fine, Brown ran over 230 pound lineman, 200 pound linebackers and 175 pound defensive backs. If you have it in your mind that he would have done that in the 90’s against those players then I don’t know what to tell you bud, Sanders ran around and made defenders look stupid with his stop on a dime cuts and agile moves, Brown had power and speed but his battering ram style would have had the same effect as it did on Earl Campbell. Not a chance he would have got 5.2 a carryin the 90’s. Barry easily would have hit 5.0+ in Browns day against part time athletes

Then again, considering that today's NFL is a passing game, Brown might have actually done better in today's game.

If I'm putting together an NFL football team with players from all eras at their prime to play in today's game, other than QB who would of course have to be the first to think about, the second player I'm putting on my team without a doubt is Jim Brown.

Exactly why he would be #2 on my all time team build, there are lots of #2 guys you could insert with a good football mind EXCEPT a Running Back, ofcourse SteveK taking Jim Brown #2 is just a glaring example of how little real football knowledge he has lol

BS. Most carries and chances all-time (by a ton) behind an all world line with weapons at QB, WR and TE doesn't equate to best ever. Maybe in DimeLand but nowhere else

I think Smith had 1400 more carries then Sanders and only 3000 more yards. Do the math. It's very telling.

Considering that Sanders is 5-8, 203lb, and that 203 is probably embellished...with the rules back then with what defensive players could do, and refs often looking the other way when defensive rules were violated, Sanders may not have lasted five years in the league.

Defensive players back then would have tore Barry apart...he may not have lasted three years.

Deion Sanders with your 2nd pick? Paul, are you kidding?

Do you have some sort of affinity for football players with the last name of Sanders? Who is your 3rd pick, Colonel Sanders? ;)

Steve that is not nearly as absurd as you thinking Brown would be just tossing defenders aside and running with 3 guys hanging off him like backyard football. I say Brown with his style would have taken a pounding more so than Sanders would have, the guy knew how to avoid contact and make guys miss.

Let's say that is correct, which I think is debatable...but in any event, nobody else except Paul would take a defensive back with their #2 pick.

Granted that Deion was also excellent on returns, but there are others who were better.

Steve I was actually joking about you not having much Football knowledge but now I’m starting to actually believe you really don’t. So let me get this straight, you can build a football team, all time greats or not and thankfully you know to say you would take a QB first but then you destroy it and say I’m crazy for taking a HOF CB number 2 while you would take a RB? LOL. Steve you might be a good fantasy football guy but with real NFL Adult Talk? Umm not so much

Paul, I already stated, not any other RB, we're talking about Jim Brown here.

    Then i build the O-line

In the beginning I take mostly offensive players, but perhaps take Lawrence Taylor up there as well.

Don't forget Chuck Bednarik if two way players are important to ya. Bednarik was more important to a football team than Deion Sanders.

As far as taking a QB 1st and then a DB 2nd on your all time team, that is evidently a very wise move. That's what the Browns did in the latest draft and we know how intelligent they are when it comes to picking players.

I’ve said it numerous times over the years and I will say it again. Belichek has cost the Patriots several big games due to his arrogance and stubbornness, this cane into play against the Eagles when he sat Butler, I personally think that was the difference in that game, Belichek gambled that they would win and he would get the best of both worlds- sitting Butler because he made Bill mad and getting the W without him. That being said the game was a pinball machine so I’m not sure anyone outcoached the other, the Eagles won it by a strip sack and keeping up with the Pats in scoring, great game by Philly and they outplayed the Pats and deserved the W. That loss truly didn’t bother Pats fans, we got 5 which is what we wanted and NOTHING will ever be able to cast a doubt that Tom Brady is the best ever, he has done everything Montana did and a whole lot more with less supporting cast. Case closed and anyone that tries to debate this is just a jealous Pats hater and doesn’t know Football. Btw Steve, Pederson will need a lot more than 10 years to challenge Big Bill as the better coach lol
