This 1882 dime is holed and graffitied— a bit of a dog

I still like it!
A dime in 1882 dollars was about $2.35 cents. Not a bad price to get Clara home.

Cool !!!
Someone put some effort into that!
Smitten with DBLCs.
The piece was probably one small part of larger piece, like a family bracelet. The two holes were drilled so that it could link with other pieces in the piece. It’s too bad it’s not intact.
For those who are not familiar with family bracelets, these were pieces that were made of a series of love tokens. Quite often and artist carved individual coins for each member of the family including the father, mother and the children. In this case he may have included the family dog. Family are available intact and are interesting collectables.
I grade it C58+
great price. you stole it

I give the piece 3 "Woof Woofs".
That is a nice love token.... Dogs are family, so it is fitting Clara would be included...Cheers, RickO

i like that one, it seems original and nice to me

That dime has been CLARAfied!
A Lot of detail left on the obverse. Could've been jewelry. Nice, historic piece of Americana, in any event.
Sometimes, it’s better to be LUCKY than good. 🍀 🍺👍
