My first PL Morgan find? 1885 P, help me grade it?

Found this today for $25 marked as AU. Hard to see in the pictures but I am 100% sure it's PL. I had trouble showing it in the pictures, but as for the grade I am thinking around high AU Has a bag mark on the hair above the ear but can still see the detail there, feathers on reverse look good and are all there as well.

Sorry doesn't look anywhere near PL to me. As for grade 53 at best. Perhaps even cleaned. Congrats
The whole worlds off its rocker, buy Gold™.
BOOMIN!™
Wooooha! Did someone just say it's officially "TACO™" Tuesday????
I am certain it is PL, how can I show it in pictures?
MS70 to the rescue!
Not seeing PL. It can always be submitted.
I will take it out of the 2x2 and get pictures.
A Morgan to get the PL designation you need to put it on the end of a ruler and measure how far you can read the ruler marks clearly. PL is four inches, I believe.

From your comments I agree with others suggestion. Submit and get an education
Good luck
Better?

Much better pics, looks pl
Successful Trades: Swampboy,
I would guess that if it did get the PL designation it would grade no better than a 61 or 62. It has some reflection, but I am not sure it has enough.
Much better but do you have a ruler?

Lot of crud needs stripped off that and the mirrors and overall appeal will increase.
Lots of bag marks and chatter. 61 or2 good shot at pl.
Wow that's the same coin? Pictures are night and day different.the new pictures do make it look pl
HAPPY COLLECTING
I held a ruler up to it and it's as clear as day. Couldn't get a good picture of it but I will try again. As for sending it in I always acetone my coins before sending.... It won't hurt the PL will it? Also, as for the crud on the surface will acetone take care of that? Thanks guys!
And yes the 2x2 was impairing the sheer beauty of this coin. In hand the PL is amazing honestly.
I really don't think this is a good picture but it's my attempt at holding a ruler up to it. The lighting is yellowish and all around not great but I guess it does show how easily the ruler marks are reflected?

Hold the coin almost perpendicular to the ruler and see how many numbers you can see clearly.
Acetone probably isn’t going to remove any of that haze but it won’t hurt it.
Lay the ruler flat on your desk, hold the coin so it's standing on it's edge. Place the coin at the end of the ruler and see what is the furthest number down the ruler you can read in the reflection.
I like your second set of photos. Nice score at $25.
Acetone will do no harm, but will not remove the toning - only a dip in MS70 or thiosulfate solution (like Jeweluster) will do that. Not recommended if you're not experienced - overdipping is always worse that leaving it be.
You can search old messages on the board for dipping - lots of discussion, lots of information available.

This shows why pictures in a holder [2X2] are fairly useless

Not bad for the price.... acetone will remove organics...not tarnish...Not sure what that is all over the cheek and neck....Cheers, RickO
With the rub on the cheek and ear, it is an AU.
The photo difference illustrates why I always say that you can't defnitively grade coins based on photos - no matter how many times people GTG
