Does the mintmark on this 85-CC Morgan look "off" to anyone else?

Not my coin, not my auction. This has 35 bids and there are still several days left before it ends. I'm not an expert on mm alterations, but something does not look right about this one. Please explain what I am missing if it is legit.

Vamworld image for comparison:
Looks like a cast counterfeit.
Fake, the left c is too far from the right c & both c’s’ shape are wrong.

Those were exactly my thoughts. Someone is going to get taken on this. I have a feeling that it is going to go for much more than the current amount.
off? 110%

Wooooha! Did someone just say it's officially "TACO™" Tuesday????
Even the words "United States of America" are so uneven, I had to check if the spelling was correct.
Fake-o
I was at a antique shop amd seen a 88 CC? I assume someone added it after lol
It looks like a counterfeit
The "CC" looks other mint marks I have seen on other counterfeits. These guys make a reverse die and combine with it other obverses, some of which are date and mint mark combinations that don't exist. I have a 1903-CC!
Mintmark, the whole coin looks off.
The "F" in the word OF looks huge. Maybe I am just losing my mind though!
A government accident left me a former man, a potato. That photo on my profile is a low resolution selfie. I like coins.
Fake and not even a good one.
Looks as fake as they come.
Meld of wierdness! Wrong reverse arrow feathers for an 1885 (never used that year, only 1878 and 1880). As mentioned the CC is the wrong font.
Commonly seen fake from China.

That's definitely a bad one for sure. No just the mintmark but the whole coin!!!
HAPPY COLLECTING

How are so many people falling for this garbage? We are not talking about one or two uneducated newb collectors thinking they are getting a good deal.....35 bids! Unreal. Hate it for whoever gets stuck win the high bid.
Not even close.
Just for fun, I scrolled down slowly. I was at counterfeit at the first 1/8th of an inch. Yuck.

I have a 1902 CC counterfeit that looks far more authentic than this fake. Cheers, RickO

You guys need to forget about CAST counterfeits. This piece is die struck. I have not seen a "modern" cast counterfeit in ages.
BTW This exact same thing was going on in the early 1970's when the top authenticators at the time were calling the first crudely made, die struck counterfeits "casts." It was humorous.
Somewhere on the Internet there are stories/photos from folks who have visited a typical counterfeit factory where this junk is made.
The seller sold another one this past weekend! Ended at $418.00....Wow!

Fake all day, not a leg to stand on, from an arms length away with shades on.
Check this out a counterfeit 81S, first for me.

Same seller...100% feedback since Jan 2018! That's not too suspicious is it?
I reported these two coins multiple times in the days before it ended. No response.

Sorry it's not real. The mintmark is dreadful. Yechhhhhh
I disagree. Although I can't be sure from the photo. You are assuming it is "modern". But the reason I say CAST counterfeit is because there appear to be metal flow lines on the surface.
agree with all of the above, a very bad fake.

I've watched the video that showed them being made in China and yes they are struck. However the dies were made from casting off a real coin. Thus cast counterfeits. Usual tell for me is small blobs of extra metal on the surface. These are bubbles from the molten metal that was poured to make the die. So....

1878 reverse. Looks beyond fake to me.
Lame.
