I would say MInt State sharpness, but a "no grade" because of scratches. The one between "S" and "T" in "STATES" on the reverse is really nasty, and will probably prevent this coin from getting a grade.

    Sorry ...

In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

I agree with Bill that some of the scratches on the reverse are problematic. The coin's details appear to be AU to me.

I am not sure how to grade paper, as 85% of the photo is paper.

A slider AU 58, with all the aforementioned issues.
Still, a better date for an album and one not often seen above VF.

AU/UNC Details Damaged. There is no way this dime could straight grade. There are pretty massive scrapes and scratches on the reverse. Look at the gouge between S and T as pointed out by @BillJones as well as the "U" shaped scratch connecting the D of UNITED and S of STATES. There is also a very big scrape starting at the top of the fasces and coming down the ax blade.

The obverse looks pretty nice though.

    AU Details Cleaned and Scratches

As the consensus above indicates... while of AU quality (low IMO).. the scratch(es) will preclude a straight grade. Cheers, RickO
