Yes. Lincoln forever but the Flying Eagle design of 1856-58 on a 2019 Cent will revive the penny.
Would it be weird to say that I don't care much for the Lincoln penny? I just think penny's would look better with a very simplistic design considering the size. Maybe not the obverse but, the memorial back just looks meh and the shields are ugly to say the least.
A government accident left me a former man, a potato. That photo on my profile is a low resolution selfie. I like coins.

I have been saying for YEARS, bring back the classic designs for circulating coinage and it will stimulate interest in coin collecting again.
This is tantamount to admitting that it is not possible for an artist to create beautiful coin designs today, which I don't believe. A stunning new design, not dictated by Congress, or designed by a committee of clip-art capuchins, and allowed to become a stable coin design and actually circulate over the period of a couple decades rather than being a flash-in-the-pan design that sat in vaults would be better.

please add an option to completely dump the lincoln cent. I know i know polls can't be altered but the shield cent is cheap and tacky looking
The design concept is fine, and had great potential. The execution is rather sterile, feels awkward, and suffers from computer drawn fonts and curves. Is the wheat reverse not even simpler? The Lincoln Memorial is basically a rectangle with some vertical bars and a few bumps.

Since the cent will soon be discontinued, it would be nice to bring back the flying eagle for a couple of years. Obviously, even as zinc, the coin is more expensive than it's commercial value.... so congress should just act and eliminate the cent... but let it go out in a blaze of glory. Cheers, RickO
Probably less than two out of 100 Americans would understand what the Flying Eagle design was all about. There is no historical or emotional connection here for most people.

The system won't let me edit the poll. I can't even correct my typo of "enthusiasms".

As far as I'm concerned the cent died in 2009. RIP.
Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.
I say the cent died in 1913 along with the dollar thanks to the federal reserve.

Yes, cents are likely doomed. The Flying Eagle design was a wonderful design. Always loved it.
We do no need cents anymore and all cash will be instinct in 5 to 10 years. In day to day transactions.

Modern "copper" is dead. I wouldn't want to see a FE made of zinc coated with copper.

As long as it came back as copper and not zinc! Would hate to see that bird start rotting! Btw fantastic idea
Don't forget the occasional extra people that some posters insist are lurking in between the columns.
Bring it back for a last year sort of thing like a going out on top. Then dump it
HAPPY COLLECTING

if they were to do this then make it out of copper ( like the pre 1982s )

Looks bleak for the penny.
Coppercents, where are you ?
