Does this look undergraded? 1880 S Morgan PCGS MS64

Saw this earlier today and thought it looked amazing with the frosty Face and Eagle. The reverse is prooflike but the obverse is not. Pictures were harder to take because of the scratches on the holder and the lighting. They had $95 on it and it is in an old green holder. In today's standards is this a solid 64 or higher?

Could easily grade 65 with todays gradeflation standards. PL? I don't see it. Looks like a solid 64, maybe + to me. I wouldn't pay $95 for it.

Wooooha! Did someone just say it's officially "TACO™" Tuesday????
$70 coin and I don't think the grade is incorrect. Nice and pretty but a common date and grade.

Looks maybe 64+, I wouldn't pay $95. Maybe $60.
Successful Trades: Swampboy,
Sorry to burst your bubble, but I don't think it looks under graded to me. I'd say it might be correctly graded and at the low end of a 64 for an 1880-S. These are graded on a tougher curve than the rest of the series.
The marks are not deep, but there are several. It looks like a low end to average 64 to me.
Maybe PQ for the grade of 64. Looks like just a bit too much chatter to be comfortable with 65.
It is a correctly graded, common date Morgan Dollar with no upside potential.
Thanks guys, I should have noted I didn't buy this coin, just getting input before hand! What would make this a 65? Less chatter marks?
Fewer marks.
1880-S come very nice,,,,,, I don't think that coin would ever make a PCGS MS65.
I've got pcgs slabbed 65s that look much worse than this one. What would make it a 65, 66? Who knows? The day of the week?

Mistakes happen,,,,,
Looks semi-prooflike with a fairly good strike but there is no way it would ever get into a 65 holder, even on a good day at PCGS.
I think it is accurately graded. Still a nice Morgan.
I could see this in a 64+ holder if it is semi PL, but this date is so common it's graded rather harshly.
But I think it's right where it should be at 64.
Just a few marks on the cheek shy of a $5,000.00 MS68 coin. It's a keeper for sure.
Looks like a 64 to me.
Here is a 65 recently graded for a comparison

Hard call but not wroth the time. Now if it was a 67 in a 65/65+ holder go for it but a dime a dozen in this graded and some are very nice and can be picked up for a good price.
But if you like it it's your $$$ do what you want.
Hoard the keys.
Looks like a pretty typical 64 for that date. May be a "+" - or for that matter even a 65, but few would bother to reholder for the price spread IMO. Not that I would mind getting it as a generic 64, mind you.

64.
With all those Frost breaks, I could see this thing coming back a 63 with as tough as they have been lately!
Definitely a 64.... do not chance a resubmit...could end up dropping a grade.... and overpriced at $95... Cheers, RickO
64 was generous.
I agree with this synopsis.

a 16,000 Morgan Dollar hoard is going to hit the market soon. common date Morgans may drop in value in the near future. patience will pay off
There are way too many little scrapes and marks to even consider given the OP coin an upgrade.
No, it doesn't look undergraded. Looks like a 64 to me.
Generally speaking, 65s have cleaner cheeks than this coin.
Looks like a nice 64, could go 65 in a bulk submission. But not worth it at that price.

Not a 65, IMO.
I think the check holds it back from a 65. It is a common date and nicer ones should be available for significantly less money, like $55 - $70 range if you look around.
it's crackers to slip a rozzer the dropsy in snide
I think it's a nice looking 64 that could possibly go to a 65 but at this time I would just hold it in the 64 grade until it gets to be really worth paying the fees to upgrade it. I wouldn't pay $95 for it but more like about $70 maybe $75 for it. But, if you do get it and think you might want to try for a higher grade, now might be the time to get it done instead of waiting a few years because knowing how companies are today, the prices will only go higher to get graded, maybe even a couple of times in the next few years. Good luck with whatever you do.
PS, and yet another OGH Morgan that would not pass today's tougher grading.
I think 64 is a good grade for that coin!
Widget. You can get a better-looking coin in the same grade for $75 with a little more-searching.
