My Mom Will Be 100 on Wednesday! Please Post a 1918-Dated Coin

giorgio11giorgio11 Posts: 3,934 ✭✭✭✭✭

It's good to have good genes! All four of her kids are still living--I am the youngest, at nearly 69, and I ran nearly 4 miles this morning. We are all flying/driving in from the four corners of the globe to her assisted living facility in Dallas on Wednesday to have cupcakes and a hug from Mom--nothing better!

She was born June 6, 1918. Please post a 1918 (preferred; or 1818 or 2018) coin in her honor. Thank you!

Kind regards,

George

    Happy Birthday to you mom!
    That pretty cool to run 4 miles at 69. I barely run 2 miles/day and I only 50

    @NVU That's 2 miles/day more than your couch!

    I have never been a fast runner but I discovered last year that the best way to run faster, is to run longer. I don't run even every other day -- I mix it up. But last year I did manage a couple of runs over 8 miles each. A typical run is 3 miles. But the weather this year hasn't cooperated, and I hate running on my treadmill. We went from winter to summer. No spring, except today and this week! I'm gonna try to do a few miles on the Katy Trail in Dallas on Wednesday.

    The important thing is, we're out there doing it! Keep up the good work.

    Kind regards,

    George

    Happy birthday to your Mom George.
    I don't have an '18 coin to post but i can offer your Mom some advice.
    If she wants to know she missed a call whenever she's away from her phone tell her to put a piece of carbon paper between the bell and the clapper and when she returns, Voila!

    Happy Birthday to your mom. Sorry, no 1918's to post.

    I can still remember talking to my great Grandfather in ~1965 when he was 102. I often think about the changes in the world he saw during his lifetime. Also hard to believe that I knew and talked someone who was alive during the American civil war.

    No need - I am sure Mary the Bell Telephone operator who tried to ring her line will let her know someone tried to call her. (Or maybe the gossip about the mysterious missed call will already have circled back to her).

    Happy birthday. What an incredible story about this celebration.

    "Broke her hip at age 90 and survived." This is what usually does you in.

    What a lot of people don't realize is that when someone turns 100 they have already lived for 100 years and are starting on 101. Congrats and happy birthday to your mom.

    Congratulations to your mom!! That is an amazing achievement just to say the least. If fact it’s so amazing that just as soon as I can pry my dead a$$ outta my chair I’ll stoll into my den and post a couple of coins.

    Well, the only 1818 or 1918 coin I have photos for is a Lincoln and @Commemdude has that covered.

    So..... Happy Birthday to her! I've always thought that reaching 100 in decent shape with a good family is the definition of "winning" at life.

    @Wabbit123 Luck as well as, like I said, good genes, and clean living! I nearly fainted when I saw her take a sip of wine -- sometime in her 80s -- never smoked, walked as long as she could (she fell when she was 90), and sang in her church choir until she had to go into assisted living. All four of her kids sing too!

    She raised us all up Southern Baptist -- but she did let us dance! ;)

    Kind regards,

    George

    @Wabbit2313 Oh yes, absolutely!

    Thanks to you and all the other well-wishers here! I am truly grateful. I never dreamed this thread would get such a response!

    Mother's father smoked nearly until he died, at age 95.
