Re: Why is there always a "know-it-all" on these boards - it seems the Coin Community has so many!
Yes, we have some big egos here and many feel threatened by someone that they may not know who knows more than them. And they overreact and pick fights where fights aren't called for.
But, yes, there's are big difference between those who are sincerely here to learn and/or educate and those who openly attack others. After 50+ years, I'm still learning and sharing what I know. Those who are confident in their expertise, don't feel the need to attack others. Again, after this long as a collector, dealer, auctioneer and auction cataloger, I'd better know more than most of the members here with much less experience. Some of us DO know a lot more than others, that's the reality here.
Yes, I'm proud to be a "know a lot" who has been openly attacked by a member who has already posted in this thread. But I would never claim to know it all or even more than many of the members here. And I certainly would never attack another member based on lack of knowledge. I endeavor to educate and learn and will continue to do so.
Re: Ever ask the auction house for a couple extra days to pay an invoice?
@MFeld . I went back and looked at the sequence. I ordered the coin from Northeast numismatic.
The coin made it to the Saint Paul distribution location (About 100 miles from me). The next day a banner appeared saying some tracking numbers would not work due to hurricanes.) Very few hurricanes make it to Minnesota but my tracking number quit working. Three days later it was reactivated. In San Francisco. For 7 days it crossed the bridge back and forth between San Fran and Oakland. Then the number quit working so I called Citi bank because a dead tracking number usually means it is considered delivered. The agent suggested maybe it was being restarted (Which it was with a new track number).
i don't believe in coincidence. My package got damaged during a window when it could not be tracked? My package was then sent on a lengthy trip that would obscure who all handled it? The price for theft is severe so even the biggest dullard would check the invoice to make sure the prize was worth doing the crime. My opinion. James
Re: Saturday morning coffee with coins
@GuzziSport I enjoyed 3 months of Saturday's but then was asked to come back (could not find a replacement). Now, according to @pursuitofliberty , I have 3 Saturday's, and 4 flex Friday's.
Here is a sister to your coin.

Re: There is just something about the year 1861, anybody else agree
Nobody's posted their Clark, Gruber & Co. 1861 set or their 61-C $5 or 61-D $1 and $5 yet?
Re: Songs With Coins In The Lyrics
I don't think that Peggy-O by the Grateful Dead has been mentioned.
"I would marry you, but your guineas are too few."
Maybe he only collected crowns and Maundy sets.

The numismatic community is not even the worst community when it comes to this. Just look at the rail buff hobby, the whole hobby is infighting between different people, and has a large number of people who are incels.
Many train wreck threads on that forum.

There are a lot of lonely, insecure and unhappy people in this world. No close relationships with friends or family. They often portray themselves as experts with the hope of being relevant. Arguing allows them some interaction with others which is really all they want. It is easy to identify most of those people here by recognizing who sits behind the screen all day posting non stop and looking for any interaction through argument or illusion they are experts. Sadly the internet allows them to feed off one another. Lonely people look for things to occupy their time such as coin collecting and thus why it is rampant on coin forums.
Face to face those people back down through the underling insecurities unless they stumble across someone with shared interest and views. In that situation feel everyone should know opinions.. One frequent poster here and prime example can be found in the Rochester area and in person unimpressionable although continues to find ways to irritate others
