Re: 1833 Capped Bust Half Rattler.....GTG Grade Revealed
Slab grade AU-50. Yes, it might come back as “cleaned” today although I don’t see and “organized” cleaning likes.
It’s not a “look” that I would buy for my collection, but the coin is well struck with all of the design details defined.

Price is one. Willingness to slab counterfeits is another.
I imagine the turnaround time is also far less.

I strongly disagree; many of their certified coins are just as good and sometimes better than the top tier companies in the under $500 price range. People submit to them because the top tier companies are slow and expensive. Both of them have been bought out by hedge funds/private equity bent on cutting costs. "Buy the coin and not the holder" has been true for decades since grading services came about, first to circumvent the counterfeit problem. ICG and Anacs have real guarantees, and I've invoked the guarantee on grade with them more than once as I have with PCGS and NGC which take longer. I see them as useful especially in the under $500 range in coins. Once you get into major multi-thousand dollar coins, only PCGS and NGC and cac have real marketability. If you have a good picture with the certification you have a much better idea of the value than with a raw coin.
Re: NGC and scuffed up plastic! Grrr.... 1864 2 Cent
I bet Phil would lite this coin up if it were photographed by him. You can see all the color on the surface.
Very nice coin.
Re: Dan Carrs latest
Ten more Native $5's were struck (up to 43). Those of us waiting might get some good news heading into the Holiday

Maybe the Eagles will stay hot at the right time of season this year. Last year they “got the lows” at precisely the wrong time. It’s good to have someone to root for in the playoffs. It looks like the Tampa Bay team might make it again in their weak division. Less said about the Patriots season, the better. Patriots fans have to root for draft picks.
Lot of TV pundits are proclaiming the Eagles to be the best team in the NFL.
Frankly, that worries me a little bit. 🤔
