Re: 2011 ASE 25th Anniversary
<< <i>You only save about $2 per coin if you do bulk. Really not worth it. Probably send in a few in to see what I get. Rest will remain in sealed boxes for now. Don't collect these anymore, might keep a MS S version if in MS 70. Rest I don't care about. Nothing new about this set except this S coin. If demand was there… -
Re: JUNK Constitutional & .999 SILVER DEALER / FEE BAY price tracker
I had to spend the better part of yesterday dipping ASEs to rid them of the nasty toning and giving them the ole Weiman's wipe to remove all the ugly milk spots. I got spot -$0.50 and dumped 640 of them. I better get moving on the next batch. LoLZ. Thank god my gold doesn't have such problems. RGDS! -
Why I always open tubes of coins

Picture showed an opened roll with attractive coins. I received a sealed roll with tape that was very obviously old - peeled up in some spots, stuff underneath the edges. The roll had dirty packing peanuts instead of foam. All of the coins are covered in milk spots. This person has sat on the return as long as they could.… -

Atrocious 2007 MS69 First Strike ASEs
After all of this talk about milk spots. I thought i better take a look at my ASEs. Luckily my big buck 2006 FS Anniv. were all OK. But...One of the raw 06s (uncirculated one) had spots the day i opened it. I had bought this in a group of 5 sets unopened (darn). But 2 days after i got them i had to look. So today i… -
Re: I don't really do toned coins but:
I had 3 sets, if anyone remembers these, 3 capsules were opened and two coins were loose in the box. That set had a very deep blue velvety liner in the OGP. Even in the same set, some coins toned and some remained blast white. I even got 2 PR70s and several 69s, most toned were 67s. I opened maybe 10-12 silver mint boxes… -
Re: Thinking about investing in ASE's
<< <i> Is there anything I should know before I purchase? >> Do a search on this forum for "milk spots". It will open your eyes to the chance you are taking by "investing" in ASE's. From personal experience, I had 40% of my PCGS MS69 ASE registry set turn in the holders. If you are just starting out in coins, (just a… -
Numismatic News tones coins! Big pics!

After reading about Taco Bell napkins, old albums, and other paper with high sulfur content and it's effects on coins, I decided to give it a try. I had a milk-spotted 2006 silver eagle lying around, and I decided to wrap it in a piece of newsprint from Numismatic news and put it on my window sill. Here are the results… -
Re: Official Football HOF Rookies Thread**********************************************

<< <i>By the way here is my sleeper pick Sam Mills >> Absolutely. He's hurt by his lack of Pro Bowls and All-Pros, but he is one of the most underrated players on that entire list. It will be interesting to see what happens after Derrick Thomas gets in (which I predict will be this year). I think Kevin Greene has the best…
