Re: TONING
There have been prime examples of highly graded coins, that I as you might as well say Not a Seasoned Pro, could spot for 5 miles....If they are going to grade according to who owns the coins..then the coin market is over for me and will be for many to come....Can They See they are destroying a fun and historical hobby… -
Re: Very cool IHC - What's the grade??
Well I was a mile off. Guess those are not spots in front of the nose and mouth after all Does this 64 Pattern have the "L" on it, since I can't even make out all the diamonds there is now way I can see if it is there or not. Of the 64 patterns how many come with or without the "L", are the diags to check the the 64… -
Re: Let's think ahead... the NY International Show in January...

<< <i>Jared- Summit... born and raised... only about 1-2 miles from my house is the station $8.75 round trip, I believe... to South Orange it is like $2.75 (there is a dealer I like there... my grandparents live right near there, so my grandfather is taking me this weekend when I stay with them, saving me the fare ) Jeremy… -
Re: over-hyped gold coins?
<< <i>There are an awful lot of mid grade Saints out there, probably over 100,000 coins in 65, and tens of thousands in 66. The 65's have recently sold at auction for over $2,500, way too much for a coin with that population. >> While those are large quantities compared to say MS65 Barber halves, there is also huge demand… -
Re: What's going on with this Jefferson rim - Pic enclosed
Not well struck. After the blank goes through the upsetting mill the edge of the planchet has a rounded surface. When it is struck in the press the planchet expands and makes contact with the collar creating a flat spot on the edge. As the strike continues the flat spot widens and it takes on the appearance you see on this… -
Re: AT or NT, thanks for your response!
Nickels are one of the hardest coins to AT with chemicals. The same components that interact easily with silver and copper do virtually nothing to the typical nickel and very little to war nickels. You can usually spot them a mile away because they are so splotchy. Typically both obverse and reverse will be completely… -
Re: I've had no power for a few days
Big storms hit here regularly. Once a funnel cloud reaches the ground it's called a tornado. We've not had any here this year, but the five in the past four years make up for this year's failure. We have one spot about 10 miles from me that was directly hit by three of the five tornados. Blows the theory out of the water… -
Re: ANA's Summer Seminar - any feedback?
That depends. If you leave campus for meals, you'll be missing a lot of the social atmosphere, so I'd recommend eating at least some of your meals on campus. You can pay cash for these. There is also the "Lunar Lounge," which is basically the late-night hangout spot convenient for people in the dorms, although even… -
Re: I've been spotted :)
<<I know what you mean. I went to my doctor recently with fluid on the knees. After waiting an hour in the lobby, he takes one look at me and he says it's my aim.>> I hear ya TwoSides2aCoin, not easy being you. Did my 2 mile run in 16:20 this evening, determined to whittle it down to 14 flat. Took my mind off the spotted… -
Re: Interest Rates...
It could be worse, at least your not losing a chunk every month to inflation, '09 has had a few bright spots. With the dollar in a downtrend since March, call it what it you like....deflation or inflation. Either way you're losing a chunk of your investment to "dollarflation" every month. I can't even begin to fathom why…
