Re: Advice for new cherrypicker
I found an 1878 S long nock in a junk bin many years ago. Cost me $8. I brought it to a coin show a couple months later and traded it to a dealer there for a $20 Saint Gaudens. Sold the St. Gaudens to another dealer at the show for $570. Some money can be made 🍒 picking, but tough to find the good ones. -
Re: What decade has the best baseball rookie cards?
Killebrew was an absolute beast when it comes to power numbers. 8 years with 40+ Hr’s and lead the league 6 times with 570 plus total. Clemente was a great hitter with average power numbers, but like Bench when you say best player at their position all time 8 out of 10 pick him in regards to being a GOAT. -
Re: Upgrading sets can sometimes be a real beating!
Well, none of my sets are worth anything near what 1950s/1960s sets go for (and I don't do graded cards), but just the fact I have over 57,000 cards makes it a challenge in of itself to keep everything as close to consistently NRMT or better as possible (especially the 1970s). Even if 99% makes the grade, that still leaves… -

The best time to buy gold is when you have cash that is looking for a home, and when stocks don't feel right. The best time to be stranded on an island with Ginger or MaryAnn is in… -
Re: Dan Holmes reception.
59 minutes to go... The results for lot 1 should be a harbinger for the entire sale (570 lots of amazing early dates). There are THREE St. Oswald 1794 cents in this sale. All pedigreed back to Major Sir Rowland Denys Guy Winn, M. C., 4th Baron St Oswald, whose family purchased the cents directly from the US Mint in 1794! -
Re: $50 GOLD EAGLE PCGS MS69 PRICES?
What really surprised me was seeing an add from the US Mint selling them at $570 for the 1 oz, $285 for the half, $150 for the quarter and $70 for the tenth - or all 4 for only $999 this was a couple months ago when spot must have been near $320 - I wonder if they change prices daily? oops, these prices where for PROOF… -
