Milk spotting.....again
This afternoon I finally got up the courage to check out my ASE's for the dreaded milkspots...I have approx. 200 graded ASE's including fifty 3 coin Anniversary sets (17 NGC70/70/70). All of the coins are in the same place in NGC/PCGS boxes. Of the 200 or so coins only 6 are PCGS graded (MS69 3-FS 2006, 3-FS 2007).… -
Re: Coin rcvd is not one in auction photo... v.7,987.02b

<< <i>I had convinced myself those "milkspots" were on the plastic, not the coin. As an example, in this case, how do you try and differentiate the layer of plastic and what we see on it, compared to what appears on the coin in a photo, a few millimeters "deeper" in the 2-dimensional view? >> No problem on the help....you… -
Re: APMEX is selling the 5oz ATB coins right now - $1,395 per 5 coin set - SOLD OUT - MTB SELLING ON eBA
<< <i>Just got my FideliTrade sets. The coins were packaged individually in just bubble wrap inside a Fedex cardboard envelope inside another Fedex soft bubble wrap envelope. All of them are prooflike or look prooflike. Going to NGC tomorrow for grading. About $550 for grading all 10 of them. Never did their imaging before… -
Re: MILK SPOTS!!!!!!!! Best way to keep them away on 06 ASE?

Welcome to the forum. Slabbing the ASE's will NOT prevent milkspots. As of this time... the root cause has NOT been formally identified and NO corrective action has been formulated. Some collectors have the problem, some do not... Recommendations such as vacuum sealing, humidity control etc have produced varying results. I… -
Re: Do PCGS holders cause milk spots - WITH PICTURES
<< <i> << <i>I think they will develop spots regardless. Send them back to PCGS for a review and money back. >> You would think that after 10 years they would be OK. The ONLY difference in this coin is that it went from the US Mint capsule to a PCGS holder. >> Not true...the environment of where it was stored changed as… -
Re: Modern crap vs old crap

<< <i>Neither! That ASE has hidden milk spots under that AT toning! >> Actually, looking at the toning (and not having seen this coin in many many months as it just came out of the closet last night ), I don't think this one needs to worry about the milkspotting. I've seen some that tone and have, basically, an untoned… -
Re: White spots on 64 silver proofs
<< <i>After reading some of the postings here about the AH Kennedy proofs, I decided to check through some of my 64 proof sets. EVERY ONE of the silver coins has a field that looks terrible under even moderate magnification. It looks like minute white spots sprayed on the fields. Like 'overspray' after someone has… -
Trade? Select years of SAEs (singles)
Noticed a few in the books that we have that have turned. Would like to get better looking ones (no garish toning/milkspots/scratches/etc) to replace them. In trade, I have nice examples (no toning, no scratches, no milkspots showing, etc) of the following years: 2003, 2004, 2014, 2015, 2016 Not trying to cherrypick MS70s,… -
Re: prices crashing 20th ase sets

I do laugh at all the strong opinions by people on these. The haters that want to see them tank and give "facts" as to why that is happening. The other side is people arguing that it is a fluke and to buy buy buy. I bought when they came out. I sold earlier and I sold some well. I didn't sell any at the $800/set… -
