      Milk Spot city on some of them! Fortunately, PCGS can save the proofs (actually hopefully) but the BS coins usually end up with a downgrade.

      Appears to me that there are a few milk spots starting to grow on the coin. Hard to photograph coins and show the true cameo effect, but I don't see it.

      I would assume that if General Mills worked out the details for a 20,000,000 package promotion well in advance of actually putting coins into cereal boxes, which would be logical, then it KNEW that it needed 5,500 Dollar coins and therefore it ORDERED 5,500 Dollar coins.       I've got all the rev. proofs that the mint ever issued..gold, plat & silver, and I've bee very fortunate, that none have ever milk spotted.

      It's known as milk spotting. It's caused by poor rinsing of the planchets at the mint, and it ain't coming off without sandpaper. That's one of the worst cases I've seen! Russ, NCNE

      Whatever will maximize value. I have a soft spot for varieties, so that would be a cool honor. Likely yes, if the variety or VAM has some clout. Run of the mill variety with little demand? Back to maximize the value.
