1902-O Morgan. VAM-66, Doubled Profile, and Interesting Filled "2"
I purchased this Morgan last Saturday at auction. What initially stood out to me was the attractive gold toning around the rim of the obverse. However; after close inspection I noticed the "2" in date was filled. At the time, I wasn't certain if it was excess "flash," or, a silver metal fragment that was embedded above the… -
Re: Questions regarding 1917 Type 1 and 2 SLQ's?
Are there any known examples of a 1917 Type 1 obverse with a Type 2 reverse? Nope. The type 2 didn't go into production until August 1917, long after the type 1 had been discontinued. How about a 1917 or 1918 Type 2 Obverse with a Type 1 Reverse? Nope. See the book Renaissance of American Coinage 1916-1921 for details and… -
Re: Card Saver 1 or 2?
Definitely CS-1's. I bought multiple boxes of CS-2's a few years ago, and immediately regretted it, as it is too difficult to get cards in and out of them; and forget trying to put 1952-56 Topps-sized cards in CS-2's.....they're too small. I've found that even with tobacco cards (T206 sized), CS-2's are too small to get… -

Re: 2007 Topps Series 2 Is Out

I just bought a hobby box of Series 2 and a complete set of Red-Backed Series 2 cards. (God bless sniping). After my Series 1 experience I'll wait a while before going after insert sets and wait for everyone else to blow a fortune putting them together. Then, when supply FAAAAAAAAAAAAAR exceeds demand I'll pick them up… -
Santa Clara Coin Show Day 1+2 - Look inside to meet some of our very own forum members. (Added more

It was kind of nice and relaxed this time around. Some of the big dealers were not there but the tables quickly got filled by more humble local dealers. The first thing you see walking in was the Superior tables, they were still there. I did not stop and ask questions, maybe tomorrow. All I was looking for was Classic Head… -
1st world problem, I accidentally won 2 different AU58 St. Gaudens at the same, which should I keep?

I put in a bunch of what I thought were low ball bids on several AU58 St. Gaudens that I thought wouldn’t win, but I ended up winning 2 of them. Which one should I keep for my Circulated Type Sets? The first one pictured below I got for about $600 less than the PCGS price guide and is an 09 over 08 and the 2nd one below… -
Only 2 of 4 crossed but I'm excited
As I've posted recently, I've been fortunate with 3 different submission and can now report a fourth. Only 2 crossed but the 2 that didn't were shots in the dark. The discounted $10 fee for failures made those a cheap gamble. 1805 G$ 5 NGC-63 made it into PCGS MS-63 1856-S G$20 ANA 58/Pcgs 58 the 2 that didn't 1918/7-S SLQ… -
