Poppage in 1 week and some hits!!! 1980's
I subbed the April 50 day special and was pleasantly surprised to see my grades pop in a week. I also finally hit some nice 1980's cards that I pulled from packs! FINALLY!!! I'm pretty pleased… just too bad about some of the many "OC's" I got, but thats the way it is.. I sorted the sub by "grade" to make it a little easier… -
Re: Washington Draped Bust Tokens and the Melbourne Restrikes
I agree. I look at these all the time! Neither of these two are mine, but I do have a couple of errors! One is raw and one is in a PCGS holder, but no TrueView yet. Have to get both in front of Phil's camera! The top 1783 Washington & Independence silver piece is from the E. Pluribus Unum collection. When that collection… -
Re: 1978 Set
Maybe I can turn my pursuit of my 1978 Topps set into a Registry Reality Show! And the Board can follow along with my hits and misses! Here is where I stand as of Leap Year Day, 2004: I have exactly 55 9's in my possession tonight. I have a lot of the HOFers. The "big name" cards that I need are 1 - 3 - 4 - 5 - 6 - 10 - 15… -
Re: Need advice on pre-war key cards **Update - MORE Purchases Made**
My advice is to find a focus, do research, and take advantage of VCP (esp the one day membership) when making a big purchase. For example, say you decide you want a Babe Ruth card. There are a wide variety of cards available for Ruth from his playing days that can go from a hundred bucks or so (Sanella, Churchman) to the… -
Re: The Official 1986 Topps Football Thread
Going through the raw cards I purchased from Kevin, I'm finally submitting my first batch of 17 to be graded. Since I've built the set so quickly from others selling, I have 62 beautiful cards that were ready to submit for grading (in Card Saver I) but I already have in my registry. For the 62 raw cards, ready to grade… -
Re: This Yankee Fan Wants Hughes, Kennedy, and Melky to Stay Put
Ben McDonald actually isn't a bad comparison to Hughes. I can't believe the ho hum talk about Johan Santana. He IS the best pitcher in MLB and has been so for the past few years. Of all the competitors for the best pitcher title, he is the most likely to continue to pitch at a level as good as he has been in the recent… -
Re: No Snow here! 1985 Topps Football - Updated Pop
Grades Popped today on some of the 1985 Topps Football I opened a few weeks ago. Mixed feelings. I knew 10's were too hard to pull so I wasn't expecting them. But seeing the "8.5" by the Marino and the Moon make me frustrated that I was that close to a "9" on those cards!!! Any suggestions on what to do with my 8.5's?… -
