I recommend an acetone bath for all silver coins from the Mint. Long ago, Russ told me to do that to prevent milkspots.... So, I did, and whether or not it helped, I have no milkspots. Cheers, RickO -
Should TPGs create a special holder/ring for ASEs?
Given the severity of the ASE milkspot problem and that no milkspots have been reported on ASEs stored in OGP capsules and flips for decades, should the TPGs create a special holder or ring like a DirectFit AirTite for ASEs? -

From what I have seen, toning won't cover the milkspots, if they are there. It will change the overall look of the coin, and maybe that is what you are referring to, as it will make the focal point on the toning rather than untoned silver where the focal point would be on the milkspots since they are a change of the… -

Welcome. Stated many times in the past, if you do some searches. PCGS, by company policy, has decided that, due to the milkspotting that can occur on these, there will be NO NEW PCGS MS70 SAEs until the milkspotting issue is resolved and PCGS is comfortable with their liability of the "guarantee". -

I've only used MS70 on proof silver coins, usually about a 50/50 mix. Frankly, it does wonders for haze and even milkspots. Though some milkspots are apparently meant to last the life of the coin. Anybody know the actual cause of them? Russ? -

Cool. 2 things come to mind then.... A bunch of us that had the MS69 in the sets and sold them, and they were worthy of a 70, got screwed. They had said before they wouldn't do a MS70 unless they knew a way to stop the milkspotting.....what has changed? Their guarantee on these? The milkspotting? Is it only the -W that are…
