Should TPGs create a special holder/ring for ASEs?

Given the severity of the ASE milkspot problem and that no milkspots have been reported on ASEs stored in OGP capsules and flips for decades, should the TPGs create a special holder or ring like a DirectFit AirTite for ASEs?

The ring is only one guess. I believe humidity is a major factor. AFAIK no one has stated for sure what the direct cause is.

The ring is just one guess but I think it's a pretty good one for at least being one, of possibly several, necessary contributors. If it wasn't a necessary requirement, wouldn't you expect humidity or planchet issues to also affect ASEs stored in OGP, DirectFit AirTites and Saf-T-Flips? None have been reported. It could be just a coincidence but how likely is that?

Perhaps the slabs themselves are contributing to the problem. They are some 20th ASE sets in ring-less NGC holders that have spotted too.

I think a better solution would be to neutralize the issue by dipping them all in acetone before putting them in slabs. The issue is the rinse used at the mint and storing them in air tight containers is only a temporary solution until someone decides to put the ASE in a different holder.

I wouldn't call the NGC slabs "ring-less" as the entire white slab innards can be considered a super ring. In any event, the white plastic in the NGC slab is somewhat flexible similar to the PCGS slab ring and the AirTite ring.

The issue is that the slabs are not air tight. Air conditions such as humidity do play a factor in accelerating the spotting. I bet if you live in Arizona that the spotting is severely reduced.

BTW I have seen spotting in the original mint packaging as well as in slabs.

Hmm, that's good to know BECOKA. I haven't heard that before. Do you mean the hard OGP capsules?

Are DirectFit AirTites supposed to be air tight? Have any milkspots been seen on ASEs stored in DirectFit AirTites?

Plastic is porous by nature. They all allow some degree of air to penetrate. Even most glass containers are not 100% air-tight.-

It still seems like you are dramatically increasing your probability of getting milk spots by using TPG slabs. Not all plastic is created equal?
