Re: You ever look at some of your coins and think...
<< <i>In the early 1960's Spadone popularized "cracked skulls" and other chipped dies of Lincolns and Jefferson Nickels. I recently sold a 50-coin attributed set to a youngster for $15. Garrow >> Coin collecting fashions change. What are we doing right now that will fall out of fashion in the next 50 years? -
British Queens, "Bullet Book," Queen Mary, 1553 – 1558
Mary and Philip Groat • Mary was the daughter of Henry VIII and Catherine of Aragon. • Some historians have described her as “a psychological mess.” For part of her life she was declared illegitimate because of her father’s divorce from her mother. She was very loyal to her mother and her mother’s religion. • Mary was a… -
Re: 1954-55 Topps Hockey???
Before this thread i would be willing to bet 95% of the people on this board had never heard of Tony Leswick. Enough with the Antitrust laws how be we talk a little hockey. This article appeared in this mornings Detroit Free Press about Tony Leswick. Always one of my favorite stories and the writer is correct more than a… -
Re: Buy the coin and get the slab for free! . I like Ike!
Ikes in pristine condition are hard to find. They are so big that they self distruct when they fall from the dies. They almost always have reed marks on the features from where the big monsters clang together. A complete set of ms 66 Ikes would probably cost you around 5 grand. Compare that with other moderns. -

Re: Liberty Bell Gold coins and Silver Medal
If I was imprecise in my language in the the first few pages, I apologize for any false impression I gave. So let me be clear. I think they are hot garbage, and that no one who knows what they are doing will want one for their collection at these prices. Doesn't mean flippers won't see a flip due to the mintage. They are… -
Re: New Inventory .. Certified Major Error Coins with Fantastic Eye appeal. Photos!!!

A dropped letter or the rarer dropped number happens when the letter or number is filled with hard pack grease, grime and or foreign substance. The letter or digit then falls out on a blank planchet which is then stamped by the mint dies leaving the impression. Almost always a one-shot deal and not multiple errors. Here… -
Re: Most Popular Half Dollar Series

Great thread indeed! Now, as to my one-time friend @Catbert and his assertation that Seated Lib's are a "sophisticated" man's game, compared to the "odd bunch" of us Capped Bust collectors ... well he is probably correct I suppose ... although have any of you actually met @Catbert ? While I can easily subscribe to the "odd…
