Re: If the hobby "adopted" a new decimal grading standard, or 100 pt scale, would you resubmit
I kind of agree that a 100 point system would be good. The only way that I can see it happening is if a new grading company enters the picture with this new grading system and proves themselves right upfront. I'm not sure how that would happen, but I'm not starting a company so I haven't had to think about it. The only way… -

In a specialized world like coin book selling, what percentage of the books enter the remainder mark
I was out selling raffle tickets for my local Lions Club yesterday (a nice 1966 Mustang is in the offing), and I spent about 4 hours with a fellow member. This person is a retired paper executive, and he rose up in the company through the sales organization. He was extremely interesting to talk to, as he regaled me with… -

Re: Why not reach out to the submitter from the grading room?
It's too much work to expect a grading company to micromanage every coin they get through their system, I mean who do they expect to make such an executive decision? So a grader decides to flag it for conservation, which is going to add a minimum of $25 on to the coin, the submitter has to agree to that and it still comes… -

Re: The final fate of the infamous 1960-D "full step" Jefferson Nickel
Doug: Yes, we were there to see that infamous 63 cent auctioned off. And, the fact that the coin was roughly a spotted PR67 (3 points lower than the holder grade) made it relatively simple to take the position everyone did (the coin "turned" in the holder). I believe here was more of a subtle problem. The 1960(d) nickel… -
Collectors Universe is growing by leaps and bounds
Here is a report (from a week or two ago). The stock is up 0.89 the last I checked today. It seems like a good investment. Too bad I can't invest in Legend, though. Why collectors drink, version 17361
The past couple days I had to do some work at our Cleveland Ohio office. Yesterday I had the chance (1st time in a very long time) to do some coin hunting. 1st stop, Emerald City Jewelers, they have a listing under coins but they only buy. But the people there were very nice! 2nd & 3rd stops, just a couple more local… -
Re: VAM'ers..about the 1896-O small "O" VAM-4
Actually, about two years, The Executive Coin Company (tecc1 or tecc?) sold one on eBay. The first time around, it got yanked by eBay. The second time, it went all the way. The coin sold for about $175 if I recall correctly. I was unaware of a second one turning up at a junk box. I still check for those, too, but have not…
