Re: Opinions on a 1921 Peace
The 1921 peace dollars were struck with different dies and at a stronger pressure than subsequent dates, and simply do not have all the same hair details as most Peace dollars. This variation in no way prevents those coins from being considered fully struck, as long as they possess all the details of their particular… -
Re: Just neat

The wide right side of Liberty-Y ended in 1982. So did the highly recognizable flat O top in GOD. So as to say we don't see a small date low relief doubling over a high relief left Y arm, is to say beginning trials in small date form aimed for 1983 didn't make them available in mid 1982. But trials had been established… -
Re: New 1827 bustie for the 'chaser
<< <i>Sweet looking Bustie....... In 1827 there were 28 Obverse Dies & 34 Reverse Dies which produced 49 different Die Marriages. Do you have all the marriages? >> Not quite. I am missing the 3 obvious ones--137,147, and 148. Short of a cherry tree falling on top of me I won't ever get there. I did happen to cherry my 124… -
Re: DELETE
What appeals to me about the earlier milled 8 reales is that they were struck by individually set dies by human operated screw press so no two are exactly alike in part due to the absence of a collar to help center the planchet. Starting in the late 1800's most Mexican mints started using modern mint technology, hubbed… -

Re: REDFIELD,BINION WHATS THE OPINION.........
The way the Redfield story goes: When the government was preparing to auction Redfield's house for non-payment of taxes (after he had died) they were taking measurements to calculate square footage. One astute appraiser noticed a huge difference between the dimensions of the exterior of the foundation and the basement… -
Re: Images of Error Coins - Updated with Resubmission
There were a lot of 1964 dated multi-struck cents that are now known to be genuine cents with extra strikes from false dies. I believe Frank Spadone illustrated a bunch of them in one of his books, which gave them the veneer of legitimacy, but they were later determined to be fakes. Maybe @FredWeinberg or @CaptHenway can… -
Re: Update : It's a FAKE 1942/1943 dual date COPPER lincoln cent error
Definately fake. The 1943 date looks mushy and not sharp at all (look at the 1942 date that is sharper). Note how the 1943 date flows with the bust details, a real strike from a real steel die would be sharp and obliterate the design more (and look sharp). Also you have 2 of these 'rare' errors, very unlilkely if they were… -
Re: eCollector... Does the 1964 D Peace Dollar really exist ?
I knew a dealer years ago who was very knowledgeable in the area of modern coinage and not prone to telling false tales. He claimed that a fellow, who asked to remain nameless, showed him a 1964-D dollar. I don’t know anything else about the circumstances. Unfortunately that dealer died several years ago, so I can’t go… -
Re: HURRY! Breens Encyclopedia on eBay -- BIN of only $1,295
<< <i>. OUT OF PRINT. COLLECTORS ITEM NOW. I spent a lot of time trying to find reprints. Talked to a lot of book dealers. NO GO ! On Ebay they were going for $225 several months ago. I thought that was too high so I put a $135 BIN on mine and someone zapped it right away. THEN I WOKE UP. >> It will require a book burning…
