Re: Calling on the powers that be regarding Grading guidelines for 25th Anniversary Silver American Eagl
<< <i>I agree. for the Record: The 2006 20th Anniversary Sets consisting of the 2006-P Reverse Proof SAE, 2006-W Burnished Unc SAE, and 2006-W Proof SAE all qualified for First Strike™ slabs even though the 2006-W Proof was released in February of 2006. Even NGC is offering "Early release" for all the sets submitted within… -
Re: I was nearly struck blind taking these photos!
Be careful. Most 1922 Peace Dollars with milk spots came directly from the mint that way. Apparently there was an issue with their planchet preparation that year. I think this VAM is a tremendous pickup, especially raw. I agree with the acetone idea - not for the spots but for some of the other random crud. I would not… -

Re: Ike Dollar Thread
Unfortunately I don't have one to share, but I see a few really nice proof pieces above. I hope to pick up a 1971 and a 1976 proof at some point for my type sets. I almost pulled the trigger on one Saturday, but I saw a spot on it and I passed. I would have purchased it even though it was twice the price, but I could not… -
Re: What's the best method when cleaning with mineral oil?
The spots have a similar shape that many Peace$ have that are thought from the rinse at the mint. Your's just appear to be darker imo. The spots I'm thinking of as far as I know will not come off. I always called them milk spots, but as I said yours are just darker. I would be more concerned with what appear to be print… -
Spot check on my hoard of 2011 25th anniversary set Eagles and....
I have 16 PCGS first strike and 6 NGC early release 2011 5 coin sets. 14 of the PCGS coins (17%) and one NGC coin (3%) have developed spots - two with the classic white milk spots and the rest have small beige toning spots or circles. I would guess that the beige toning spots can be conserved/removed .Since these are all… -
