Did ANACS get this one wrong or is this really an 1880-S PROOF Morgan?

Re: Do the White Sox have the worst hitting middle infield in history?
1979 was SD was putrid. Good pick. Bonilla hit .290/.337/.344 for 99 OPS+ That isn't too shabby. Ozzie was terrible that year. > @stevek said: I don't see him as a savior type. He is the best they have. The fact that he is 22 and just entering AAA isn't a good sign(and not coming out of college). Yes, way too early for the… -
Re: It's almost Thursday, Post a Quarter or Half Eagle
OK, changed the rules since I'm still up and don't own any other quarter eagles. Updated with an almost complete 1834 Die Variety Set, I am missing two of the 9 known. Re: Some thoughts on Capped Bust Halves
Lava you are correct about origonal crusty appearance. They are desireable, I just am not sure where they should be placed. I suspect they would be somewhere very near the second grouping. Perhaps I should have listed a 2A and a 2B. They may even rang between group 1 and 2, I await more responses. Perhaps, we can develope… -
Re: How do you store your raw GPKs?
Have all of the 1st and 3rd sets and I put them in 1a,1b,2a,2b.... order it makes it easier to compare the "grossly" names they were given. On your question #2, I just know that when I collected them in '86 the Adam Bomb was the hardest one to get in Phila area, that was when we didnot care about centering, just the card!… -
Re: Which team would you rather have heading into the playoffs?
<< <i> C Dempsey 1B J. Offerman 2B F. Vina SS Cairo 3B Cuddyer OF J. Johnstone OF L McClendon OF B. Hatcher >> I don't know anybody who would honestly choose these guys. Why don't you tell us why you would select this group of players over the Hall of Fame players? This is the most moronic comparison ever. -
Re: Whisker Cheek Peace -- Rare ?.. Finest Known ???
The 22 has a vam 2b which they call the moustache die break. Starts at the nose(touching it) and runs down towards the corner of the lips. The 23 has a 1d vam called a wisker cheek. It's on the cheek stating at the bottom of the nose(about a 1/8 inch in) and runs past the bottom of the mouth. Encyclopedia of Morgan & Peace… -
Re: 1879-CC $1- Help with identifying possible damage?
It does not look like a "plugging". It is possibly a bit of "slag" in the planchet that was struck flat. PS: The coin appears to be a VAM-2B which is fairly scarce but probably not a big premium over a normal 1879-CC $1. The pictures are a little over-exposed but it looks like it could be a pretty nice one. Recent Heritage… -
Re: Is it a "travesty" that Jim Rice is in the Hall of Fame?
There should only be 9 players in the HOF. Then it wouldn't be watered down. I added a DH for reasons that will become clear. This group would make some of you happy; OF Barry Bonds OF Ty Cobb OF Mickey Mantle 1B Mark McGwire 2B Rogers Hornsby SS Alex Rodriguez 3B Pete Rose C Mike Piazza DH Rafael Palmeiro P Roger Clemens… -
