1961-64 proof sets
In cherrypicking '57-'64 US proof sets, I've got a few that have some milk or carbon spotting on them. Usually this means just a coin or two, generally the half dollar is the culprit as this is the only coin i collect from these sets. THese are fine for kid's collections, or for the cost of silver in them. I have 10 or so… -
Who wants a free $85 PCGS certified U.S. coin?

The coin is a 1972-S silver Ike, PCGS certified PR69 DCAM, with stunning Deep Cameo contrast as the grade implies. It has a few near-microscopic milk spots on the obverse which are no bigger than a pinhead, but it would be a nice addition to a modern coin Registry set and in fact was a part of my old 1900-present set at… -

Re: Strange phenomenon on edge of 8 reales - can anyone explain?
Wow, excellent edge photos through the slab! That is a very hard shot to get in focus. So it looks like a die break in the edging die, but to have two breaks on both of the edging dies at the same spot seems very unlikely. That leads me to think that the coin was edged twice with the same half of the edging die or the… -
2007 American Eagle Platinum Uncirculated Set GONE!
It seems with Platinum Spot at or near $1550 that makes the American Eagle Platinum Uncirculated Coins Set about $55 or so dollars from spot. Still a big chunk of change. Yet, the MINT continues to sell them; as others on the forum have noted: these may be a sell-out when the MINT runs out as they purchased the platinum at… -
Re: a couple questions
Thanks for the suggestions. I actually did do the "coin garden" thing and unfortunatelly..... with the machine I'm using copper, silver, aluminum and some steel all sound the same. Where as a nickle, rusted metal and even gold (I have some gold jewelry I found sorting through junk coin at my old job) sound the same. So as… -
Re: 1993 SP Jeter PSA 10 on ebay
<< <i>My apologies my last post was inaccurate. The last one sold on ebay was June 2009 and it was for $5,500. I know this because I had cheaply won 3 different Jeter cards from the same seller who auctioned the 93 SP PSA 10 card at the same time. I just looked them up on my inventory and they were purchased on June 2009.… -
Re: Need some ideas for a coin shop display pictures included
<< <i>On another note, where is parking for your friends store? >> There are 10-12 parking spots in the rear of the building plus on street parking on the side road. This building is a 3 story. The first floor is all showcases and such. The second floor is set up to do appraisals and also has a kitchen. The third floor has… -
Re: ultra cameo gem proof three cent nickel
hi there thanks for all the great comments!!!!! hi there desert lizard the milky spots if the coin is white ans silvery are most probsbly from a dipping of the coin where there were spots of toning on the coin where the tone was so deep etched into the coin that when the coin is dipped it leaves the nilky patches where the… -
Re: Guess the "gunk" 1910 V Nickel
Try washing the coin in a mild soap, duch as Dawn dish soap diluted with water. You can give the spot some attention with a Q-tip (paper shaft). If that doesn't work, then try an acetone dip. In either case, rinse the coin well after the treatment. Blot dry, then hit it with canned air if you can. It is likely that the…
