1961-64 proof sets
In cherrypicking '57-'64 US proof sets, I've got a few that have some milk or carbon spotting on them. Usually this means just a coin or two, generally the half dollar is the culprit as this is the only coin i collect from these sets. The coin is a 1972-S silver Ike, PCGS certified PR69 DCAM, with stunning Deep Cameo contrast as the grade implies. Wow, excellent edge photos through the slab! That is a very hard shot to get in focus. So it looks like a die break in the edging die, but to have two breaks on both of the edging dies at the same spot seems very unlikely. It seems with Platinum Spot at or near $1550 that makes the American Eagle Platinum Uncirculated Coins Set about $55 or so dollars from spot. Still a big chunk of change. Thanks for the suggestions. I actually did do the "coin garden" thing and unfortunatelly..... with the machine I'm using copper, silver, aluminum and some steel all sound the same. Try washing the coin in a mild soap, duch as Dawn dish soap diluted with water. You can give the spot some attention with a Q-tip (paper shaft). If that doesn't work, then try an acetone dip.
