Coin Prices - who-how-what-why-where & when
Anyone interested in discussing how the price of coins is set? I've bought coins from several of the large dealers that publish price lists and/or catalogues, and even when buying only one coin I don't believe I've ever paid the listed price. I've not asked for a discount, nor argued the price, nor even hinted that I would… -

It was amazing watching him chat with collectors of all levels of expertise, newby or seasoned, connecting with them all in one way or… -

I know you're all dying to know if the show came off as planned. Well, it did. Kent was clearly hit harder than other parts of Seattle by the recent storm - lots of streets still closed and many trees still down. The folks at Kent Commons however were ready to go. Show opened promptly at 10. Stood in line for a bit with… -
Re: Are U.S. Collectors the most sophisticated?

I think the fact that we have so many die varieties, errors, rarities, oddities and that coupled with COMMEMORATIVES..... creates a view that we are "sophisticated" or maybe having a "broader" knowledge of numismatics. I think by world populations and cultures, we have a greater number of collectors per capita than other… -
Re: $22,000 for a 1940 Lincoln Cent !!!!
Cladking, We have had many interesting disscusions on this subject over the last few months. I hope you can tell from the things I have said that I have nothing against modern coins or the people that collect them. Several of your responces to my points I do disagree with strongly however. 1. High grade moderns aren't… -
Re: Bubble Mailers Code
Spam it may be, but Royal Mailers does seem to get a warm reception on the BST, and I for one am listening to this spam, as it is well-timed. I was just thinking of ordering from them, and now the discount codes will make me think about it even more. I need mailers right now. RM, for future reference: we usually put "SSP"… -

You have to really, really want to do it. #2, is if you want to build a great collection -- of any type of coin -- you have to focus and become… -

Boeing Show Report - gotta beat Bochiman, SwampBoy and SeattleSlammer!

Drove town to Kent after golf this AM for the Boeing show. Attendance was strong - hard to even find a place to park! Had already received a few texts from Bochiman as to where the collectible holders were located! Alas - all were from prior shows and overgraded. Coin shows have become more of a social thing for me lately…
