Re: Sixty years ago today: 2/20/62. John Glenn's Mercury flight.
The signatures in order are Glenn, Bill Lyon(s?) who I understand was Dana's business manager, Schirra, Grissom, Cooper, Slayton, Young, Conrad and AL WORDEN. Given the assorted signing utensils, my best guess is that this short snorter was signed at 4 different bars and/or 4 different times... Glenn and Lyon(s?),… -

Re: Coins worth double or more what you paid for them. ($100 Min value)
11 $5G CVC Commems purchased for $200 each. All more than doubled, one landed in a PCGS MS70 holder and would be a grand slam. Numerous $1S Buffalo Dollars, all tripled. 2x 1976-S Kennedy Halfs as part of $12 mint sets. Both graded MS68, sold one for $475. 2x 1976-S Washington Quarters as part of $12 mint sets. Both graded… -
Re: can someone identify the date range for this PCGS holder? (Very important)
<< <i> << <i>I don't see any holder that looks like that one, here. Note that the circular logo on the reverse is nothing Condor cites. Lance. >> Lance: I checked that one before starting this thread; Condor's last post to the one you cite was almost 4 years ago, which is why I decided to start this one. >> Dennis, I… -
Re: Top 8 most popular Registry sets
I'm not surprised...in fact I would've expected that as such. Outside of Morgans, those sets are affordable for the average person. It takes some people a long time to get comfortable in spending over $500, $1,000, $2,500, etc., for a coin, and most people just flat out don't have the means to. How many people can afford a… -
Re: How do you define "Rare" ???
I think what he meant is how "rarity" itself is defined whether it's "date" rarity or "grade" rarity or whatever. Supply and demand can be used but that will be more of a measure of what the particular coin is worth NOT its rarity. Rarity is best defined, IMO, of the total number that exsist. Funny the 16P SLQ is… -
Re: Crazy price for a sad coin
The real harm with the likes of NTC isn't so much selling XF40 coins, cleaned and buffed to appear SM65- but instead, and even more hideous, is selling coins, like that 19-S quarter in a 65 holder when it's maybe an MS63 and certainly NOT a $4,000.00 coin. I've purchased NTC's and the glaring truth is they are two or three… -
Re: Euro Allergies
my nephew broke his arm. he also had a quarter he didn't want his brother to get. naturally he stuck it down the cast and couldn't get it out. 19 days later when the cast was removed it had adheared, grown, stuck, whatever to his arm and had to be "pried" off. The quarter had skin and "gunk" attatched to it and his arm had…
