Nice pictures; I like the background in the first. I am betting you paid a touch more than the price listed in your first picture.

EagleEye, I spotted that coin a few week backs on your site. I wonder why it's not classified as a Judd-152, of German Silver? I sure do like it though.

Jeez -- there are some great coins in this thread.

This might be a good time to make people aware of outstanding (and free!) websites:

    www.uspatterns.com

Great info, and better than the most up-to-date pattern book.

Also, there is the Harry Bass Foundation website:

    http://www.harrybassfoundation.org/patmenu.asp

Also, there is this cool article on our own Andy Lustig (a very interesting read):

    http://www.collectorsweekly.com/articles/an-interview-with-us-pattern-coin-collector-andy-lustig/

I found all this info (and more) in this month's Numismatist article (the December issue, pages 23-24, written by James M Bucki Sr.).

since I am digging up older threads, I thought I would add my pattern to this thread (seems to fit with the other 1870's here.) so bump!

    1870 10C J-843

    image

Needs a better picture, especially the front. I think the coin is darker in hand, also.

I have posted this picture before but, sadly, I have only pictures of 2 of my patterns. I am trying to convince my middle son to gain some expertise in taking photos but he keeps muttering something about money. I tell him he would be taking pictures of money but apparently that is not quite what he has in mind. Anyway, this is a J-159.

A friend comes into the shop and loves playing show & tell.
He's got a great eye for coins. I asked him if I could hold his coin and he said "sure".
I asked if I could take a pic. He said, "I doubt it, but you can try " image
So I've added COINFACTS' photo of the coin.

Here is the only true pattern I own. It is an 1836 gold dollar. Normally I don't collect patterns, but I like this one because of my strong interest in gold dollars and their history. I own a Betchler gold dollar for the same reason.

    imageimage

I also have an 1836 "On Base" Gobrecht Dollar (original strike) and an 1792 half disme. Both have been listed as patterns, but I view them as regular issues because of the high mintages (too high for a pattern) and the number of circulated coins that are known. George Washington also called the 1792 half disme "a small beginning" in coinage in his fall 1792 message to Congress. His word is good enough for me! image
Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

Beautiful coins - just wish I still had the ones I've sold over the years........

One interesting pattern coming up that will make nearly all of you puke. LOL!

I had to have it to make all of her sisters as well as her cousins here look more beautiful. ROFL.

Reminds me of "Marla Hooch" the 2nd baseman girl in the wonderful movie "a League of Their Own" before her teammates dressed and made her up her up to look better.

I sent this pattern to Roger Burdette. Geez, I hope this pattern does not make him faint!
