Don't have one to post here but did you guys see the 4 PCGS Bust Halves that just went off on Ebay. Two AU 50's OGH's and two 58's- all CAC'd. I got blown out of the water on the 1811 OGH O-104 with a $1000+ bid.. What am I thinking. one of you probably gave me the beatdown.
<< <i>The same guy won the 1809, 1821 and 1829..........all beautiful CBH's, and the pics weren't too shabby either >>
Yes he did! My bid did not even get registered. I had $1068 in the confirm box with about 8 seconds left when I hit "place bid" and by then it was not even enough that it would take it.

Happened to me many a time, I hate when that happens
Those were some fine busties, beautiful colors. I couldn't believe what they went for. Would have really liked to have the 21 and the 29. I thought they would bring just over $1K. Although it is not as colorful as those two, their prices make me wonder what Sheridan's 15/2 is going to bring. drddm do you know who won those coins? Hope he isn't interested in the 15/2.
My guess on Sheridan's 1815 is in the vicinity of 20K. The average bust halves have gone down with the economy, but there is still fierce competition for the really nice choice AU's. And there haven't been many choice AU 1815's lately.
Also, I have an 1822 to post, once a 21 gets put up here ( I have a few nice 21's, but not great pictures of them)
Thanks for the compliment on my 20/19........I sent you a PM (private message) a few days ago but I'm not sure if you know how to read them and respond.

So many of your coins are so awesome you could show postage sized black and white pics and we would still drool....
drddm: check your email. Your busties are absolutely gorgeous, fantastic color, many are much nicer than mine. I see you have professional pictures of them all. I'm impressed with your collection. Lots of pedigreed coins. You need to put some more up if other people are hesitating.
Sharp "grey dirt" coins halfnut, very nice. Wharhorn

Thanks Wharhorn, but your set is the amazing one.........so many tough varieties in MS, congrats on owning such an incredible set.
Goldbully: Very nice 23, looks kinda like my chin. I've really enjoyed this thread, wonder if we should consider including varieties? Certainly some nice ones for 23 and 24.
One thing very common to all these beauties is the visible luster dripping off these coins. It is one thing to have a coin with technical 58 wear but without the luster, calling them true 58's is a stretch. Looking at these it is obvious that PCGS does not give CBH's that elusive 58 grade for nothing. A CBH in a 58 PCGS slab is really a tough coin as my friend Mozin is aware. Grade thread Mozin
Great looking 1824, Banana!!!!! Glad you could chime in as a new member with a beautiful image of your 1824 CBH at a critical juncture in this thread!!!!
Edited to add: Am I seeing some cool 'date doubling?'
Ok, call me a liar.......I said I wasn't going to post any more CBH's but hey, Don Willis did say a few posts above to use his CBH's..........well here is his (uhh, mine now ) 1825 AU58.
I do have some 1824's but all 55's Perhaps Mozin can step up here and post one of his beauties, hmmmmm
Perhaps we should start another date thread on PCGS AU55 CBH's.........I know where there are a few nice one's around >>
So many pretty babies. Yummy!
It is Tuesday night, and we still have 1827 through 1836 CBH PCGS 58s to show. You are already talking about the next thread of 1807-1836 CBHs in PCGS 55? Bet such a thread would run much quicker. Such a thread would have a "Show only one Bustie per person" requirement.

I wonder if we would really need a "Show only one Bustie per person" requirement. What do you people think?
I collect Capped Bust series by variety in PCGS AU/MS grades.
I have nothing to add other than this is a cool thread. Though I have loved early half dollars for many years, I have never owned one graded as high as AU58.
Wow! Some wonderful Busties posted this morning. Sure is good to see you all having a good time posting on this thread.
Last night Banana suggested maybe we should finish this thread, and then start a PCGS 55 thread.
I wonder if we would really need a "Show only one Bustie per person" requirement. Would we be able to do such a thread, where 30 different people would show their 1807-1836 PCGS 55 CBHs? I am thinking we should stick with asking people to post no more than two Busties. To expect more than 15 of us, to show off our coins, might be too much.
What do you think?

<< <i>WOW that is a beautiful 1818, Lets keep this going >>
PM sent Wharhorn
I don't think I have a 58 in PCGS plastic, only NGC and old ANACS.
But I'm still looking at this thread every day.
This 1820/19 happens to be one of my favorites and so I couldn't resist.

Anyone not happy with that?
Thanks
I can't guarantee someone else might not jump in and post their's but I assure you, I'm done.
Looking for an 1821, anyone got one?

Is anyone waiting to post their 1822, after someone manages to post their 1821?

Thanks Dave, lots of beautiful 58 CBH's for our viewing pleasure at this juncture!!!
This is a very interesting thread idea on the part of Mr. Mozin!!!
edited to add: I've got a nice 1826 peach toned and an original 1827 CBH waiting in the wings if need be.

Thanks for the kind words Don. Now, go back up an take another look at the 1811 I posted earlier.
Thanks also to all you fine fellows who have posted positively about this thread. Now, what about that 1824?

A very gracious offer from our 'Board's Boss!'
I believe that mozin's first and most important requirement is that the images come from CU forum members!
Now who's got that 1824????
I'm still holding a 26 and a 27 ready and willing!!!
I say Dr. Dave, if you got an 1824....post it......and right now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I do have some 1824's but all 55's

Edited to add: Am I seeing some cool 'date doubling?'
<< <i>Quick Goldbully, post your 1826
Here she is..................
Sorry about the reverse black mark, but she is still an attractive '58!!!
edited to add: Dave, your 1825 is simply stunning!!!!!
BTW, I like the peach toning on your 1826, it certainly adds to its eye appeal
<< <i>Thanks Goldbully. I guess I have to also thank Don for having good taste in finding the 1825.

Thanks for posting that one
Some lovely coins, indeed. I missed contributing my best. But here's a '28 to keep things rolling.
Lance.
Nice toning on your 1828
<< <i>This has been crossed to PCGS at grade and has a green CAC sticker.

This is actually an extremely rare sub-variety...the NGC 58 crossed at grade !
