I dont know what it is about them, but I just love them, especially with some color and when they're resonably priced.

One from another dealer:

That colorful 1903 PCGS PF65RB CAC hardly has any spots.....not for me.
Give me spots!!!! Wanna swap for a 1830 CBH that grades a lowly AU53!! image

The 1903 was actually in a PF64 holder before I bought it. If you look at the date under Coinfacts its imaged as a 64. Obviously Laura thought it was better and resubmitted it.

    Ankur,

With the coin in hand how bad is the spot that appears above the 9....?

Not nearly as dark in hand. Only appears dark when lpoking at the mirrors under direct light.

  • Ankur: with the coins in hand which Indian appears happier? I swear the 1878 is smiling at me while the 1903 seems sad. (: I'd rather own the happier one. image

I'm not a fan of the pictures of the 1903. To me it doesn't look true. Unnatural shadows, excessive contrast and saturation. They highlight the disturbing spot over the 9.

My guess is the coin is a lot prettier than the photos, and the spot is not distracting. I like CAC and I'm sure it was stickered appropriately.

I prefer the NGC one...the PCGS one has spots which are distracting to me

I'm not a fan of any spot's on copper.

They seem to multiple and grow.

Since this one is sold, I'll post it. Thanks to Brandon for the image. The funny thing is, this coin is in a NGC 65RD holder! (my pitiful image is below.)

    image

The coin is 100% original and obviously didn't turn from red to the colors seen in the holder. It's in a old fatty holder. What it shows is that NGC at one time used market grading on toned coins. Since they valued it as a full red, they graded it that way.

That's a stunning IHC, Rick. Gorgeous.

I think your photos are probably more correct, and I'd expect it to look more like that.

With all due respect, the other photo is excessive. Wild, iridescent pictures only serve to set the wrong expectations.

Brandon was able to get the coin tilted in the holder, so it could be imaged as if it were raw, with straight-on lighting. Fattie holders are great for that.

I think the image is close to what the coin looks like in hand.

Every coin I have ever bought from Brandon has been exactly like the picture. That has been my experience. Nice proofs in this thread BTW!

Okay, I must be wrong. The coin probably looks just like those photos.
