Possibly...hard to determine from those pictures... looks like there could be split serifs (G & E)... but difficult to ascertain. Could be machine doubling.. need better pictures... the angle is deceptive. Cheers, RickO
I am leaning towards WDDO-002 but we need a head on shot of the date. It will be the location of the split in the '9' that tells us. If the split is in the middle of the '9' it is the WDDO-001 but if it is more to the right or the back side of the '9' then it is the WDDO-002....which is what I think it is based on the photos so far. Hard to tell.
But you definitely have one of them.
What would you grade it?

Hey guys, Just a friendly comment from another variety collector. Varieties in the Lincoln cent series took an extreme turn not too long ago when the use of microscopic tools kind of took over the norm in variety collecting. As an example, CD has listed on his site coppercoins.com 26 DDO's for the 2006 Lincoln cent alone.
26 different DDO's for just the 2006 year !
Little much you might say....well guess how many DDR's are listed for just the 2006 year coin ? ready.... 40 Yes FORTY different DDR's for just the year 2006
Well when it gets to the point that darn near every coin you look at can be magnified to the point of seeing some variation due to the nature of preparing the dies then many people will just stop looking and caring about these because they are soo common and soo minor that they all tend to be the same.
Careful the direction you take this because I think it will decrease collector interest as well as the value placed on the variations.
This from a variety weenie who no longer looks at modern Lincoln coinage because it is no longer fun.
This variety that Harry779 found looks like it is as strong or possibly stronger than the new 1945 DDO listed in the Cherrypickers' Guide so that is a good sign. I could not imagine 20-40+ varieties for one particular year. That is just insane. Not only that but the differences have to be really minor at some point making them meaningless. I would not enjoy that at all. Luckily, the Mercury Dime has been out and done for a long time. People have had plenty of time to study them so hopefully there will not be too many more "New Discoveries" like there is with something that was just minted yesterday.

there are only a very few important DDO/DDR coins. most of the 40 different ones hes talking about consist of tiny bumps on a pillar or little bumps on the knees of Lincoln...etc.... extremly minor and NO ONE actually buys them. I have several tubes filled with them. Not worth attributing nor slabing. I personally consider these minor DDR coins a joke.

Not so with the DDO's Harry. Some of those huge numbers show a better spread and more notching than many "new discoveries". Been there, done that. Slippery slope.

I think it is, but the straight on date would help.

DDO #1-Medium spread on date, designer's initials, with light spread on IN GOD WE TRUST and ERTY of LIBERTY
DDO #2-Medium spread on date
DDO #3-Strong extra thickness on date, designer's initials, IN GOD WE TRUST, and LIBERTY
DDO #4-Light spread on date and IN GOD WE TRUST
I dont see any doubling on LIBERTY at all.I am thinking it could be #4
The split on the tail of the 9 seems to start a little bit from the tip.
I am thinking its a MS64/65 non FB (its blast white)
The split on the 9 tells you this.
