First silver coin find

Thought I'd share my first silver coin find. This 1964 quarter was given in change at a Staples in Philadelphia. Needless to say, I was super ecstatic. image

Whenever that happens, ask for 2 dollars in quarters right away (Before you walk away). Each quarter is worth about six dollars... It's worth the effort. Nice find.

That's great advice. I only started looking for silver these past 2 years. Next time I'll definitely glance at my change before I leave the store.

and keep your eye on the till when it opens. And listen for the sound of silver.

If you also have a few of the same demonination to swap that would work, too. "I like old quarters!" Is all you have to say.

Ya, when that happens, I always say "oh man I gotta do laundry
tonight, can you spare $5.00 in quarters" and one time it netted
    me 11 more silvers.

When I get home, I'll practice flipping silver vs. clad quarters to learn their distinct sounds.

Not sure we have enough date to make that assumption, I have heard on more than a few occasions how little Johnny dipped into grampa's coins for some candy (Or just outright theft).

  • Nice find. I live in the backwoods of Oklahoma and I find these all the time. There at every bank. A small % that is
  • Some people think their rare.......I find silver coin all the time. People trading in their stuff...It's Oklahoma ya know

I've gone through $5500 in quarters so far this year. 4 silvers found.

That's pretty in-line with my historical track record of 1 per 2.5 boxes ($1,250). >>

    Touche!
  • Great advice to look in the drawer or ask if you get a surprise in your change. Picked up four virtually Unc Silver Certificates the other day by doing just that. I too wondered if someone had pilfered Grandpa's cigar box for candy money.
