Because it would be cool! Most of us can't afford an original so why not?

Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't Daniel require a host coin of the same denomination?

Thw 1975 Eisenhowers were struck from Type 3 Eisenhower hosts. The 1964-D Peace Dollars were struck from 1922-1923 Host coins. The 1964-D Franklins were struck from Franklin Host coins and the 1933 Buffalo Nickels were struck using Buffalo Nickel host coins.

Doing this only alters the design of an original and legal coin but does not alter the original intrinsic metal content. Regardless of what they look like, they're still $50 pieces, one dollar pieces, half dollar's and/or nickels. (i.e. legal tender)

I guess this means that even if he did do you're suggested "restrike", you still wouldn't be able to afford it.
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

Some of Dan's stylistic updates of an older design have turned out pretty nice. I'm not all that fond of either of these originals, really.
