I had a question from a customer about the authenticity of this coin because of the tilt in the N in regina, to be quite honest I never really noticed it before. Is there an expert out there that knows if this is a known variety? sorry about the photos
thanks for any input

I am buffled and at a loss here.
You have endorsed this coin as authentic without hesitation or objections , even though we all know that there are forgeries of most of the 50 cents from 1870 to 1911 and again 1921.
I am not saying here that Ken's coin is not authentic!!!
However, I question your ability to authenticate it based on the information given.
all we have are a few not so detailed images, a Rep N and an angled 7.
NOTHING else.
And you say it is authentic.
Please gentlemen, please post your reasons that lead to your statement that this coin is authentic and not a fake..
Here are 2 1872 50 cent coins.
please identify the fake and the authentic coin if you can.
or, are they both fakes or both authentic?
thanks
Ken
I am just surprised that others have authenticated your coin without knowing any details.
The best advise I could give you... send it to ICCS or CCCS to be certified.

I jave not said the coin is a fake.
My question is actually very simple:
evryone said is is ok
What are these statemenst based on... that is what bugged me...
BTW, both of my above coins are authentic and certified.
H
I have a 1881 1 cent with all legends doubled..
also have a NFL cent with the date repunched and some of the letters re-punched, not just doubled.
there are others...
BTW, the RCMP web site about forgeries is about as outdated as last years news..
But one thing is for sure: most Canadian coins from 1858 to 1900 , any denomination, are very underrated and hence priced much too low....
just wait when they "wake up"... "they are rubbing their eyes" already..
H
sometimes they show up at auctions and the auctioneer has no idea until bidding is fierce.
the V in Victoria is actuallu a upside down A. look close and you will see the Bar across.
just thought it might be interesting

it is interesting...and the experts are much devided how it happened.
H
It was all scratched up where it counts... thye crown part also was not definitive..
upon my request for a better image, the response was:
sorry, i am unable to do better pictures because i have a very basic camera.......just trust me....., look at my feed back....
yea... and my mum is the current queen of china...
auction closed around 380 if i remember right....
someone now is the "proud" owner of a chinese fake....
do you have perhaps better images?
maybe send really excellent shots to MM.
H
which one do you think is better suitable?
I had on in really rough shape and traded it for a 1872 10 cent and a few NFL $2 gold pieces.
