As Mark said, the Lange book is excellent. It is available free on-line here

    I still recommend buying it.

I have the Bowers Series: A Guide Book of Buffalo and Jefferson Nickels. It seems to hit on most things but as others have said, if you want all the crazy stuff then you should get the Treasure Hunting Buffalo Nickels book as well. Other good books out there too...

David Lange's book on Buffalo Nickels is one of the best numismatic guidebooks I've ever read! There are a few items in it that I disagree with, but overall you won't go wrong with it.

I could use a good book , a camera instead of a cell phone for photography and image
and a tripod or an extra leg to stand on
  • Thanks for the replys. I might check out Langes book. I was at the book store the other day and was looking at a really interesting book that I also might pick up, 100 Greatest US error coins!

I agree with all the great things said about the Lange book. I would also recommend the Burdette Renaissance of American Coinage books -- i believe Volume 2 covers the antics leading up to and surrounding the introduction of the Buffalo nickel.
