How would you handle this live bidding problem
Assume you bid on a coin during a live interent session with a major auction house.
The coin you want come for sale and you press the cut bid button.
After you press the button, the coin is closed but your cut bid shows up on the next lot. A coin you never looked at and had no intention of bidding on.
The coin arrives and it is clear that your cut bid was the next bid and won for a reason. It is a high grade coin which is very doubtful to cross to PCGS as it is overgraded.
Not only did you not win the coin you wanted but now have a $4000 coin you don't want and suspect could not sell for close to that price.
What would you do here?

I contacted them the same day but never got a solid answer.

[ I thought I was bidding on an 1898-S Barber Dime in PCGS 65 ]. I thought they closed the
bidding a tad too quickly on the lot I wanted - and I ended up chalking up my win as an experience.
I immediately sold the 1899-P Dime in 66 - at a slight profit within a week of its receipt.
Doesn't sound like your error will turn out as well.
Good Luck.

you won the wrong lot. At that point I'd call the auction house and tell them I won the long lot. That should give them time to reopen the "wrong" lot and
ensure everyone gets what they want. Not catching this error until the next day or days makes it a bit thornier.

Thorniest is paying for and taking delivery of the mistake.
