I agree. That picture does not do the color or luster any justice. Having said that, the strike is excellent and I would say 65 details. The strike is so good I would wonder whether it is the mythilogical '17 MPL...

ditto
<< <i>Here's a PCGS MS64RD:
Thats at least a 65. Very nice coin!
Little scratch over UNITED? Some dark toning under the bow tie? A spot on the lapel? Some noise to the right of the portrait? Maybe nothing, maybe something.
Nice rims!
Here's a high grade one to compare.
Lance.
<< <i>I can't tell from those photos. It looks hammered. Philly '17's were pretty nice.

I have no opinion about the op's 1917 since the image isn't telling me anything about its color.

MS64RD if not dipped. It looks like there's some "carbon blooming" especially on the reverse, which is a sign there may have been some monkey business done on this coin at some time in the past.
Fuzzy and indistinct carbon spotting (in contrast with carbon spots that are darker with clearly defined edges) is a red flag for me.
60 years into this hobby and I'm still working on my Lincoln set!
It is not my coin but --
-- of course I wish it were!
( This coin carries it's own credentials)

<< <i>to 291fifth -- it is PR not MS so you failed the grading test. >>
It doesn't look like a proof to me.
