I can only assume the reserve was set for more than 50% above the high estimate which seems a stupid way to run a business. Additionally it never showed the reserve was not met, or indeed that there was even a reserve on it.

I tried contacting Goldberg's via email twice for password and log-in info - I forgot mine from awhile back - nada zilch no reply.
I called once and left a detailed message. Nada zilch noreply.
I went on icollector once quickly looking and all - tried to bid on a few lots - and I was directed to a pre-approval process including entering credit card info. I closed the site and never looked back.
Post sale - I looked at one particular lot that I was ready to bid $500 - its sold for $300 or so with the juice! Go figure!
Bottom line - the consignor(s) got screwed out of money.
This is of course besides their sub-par web site that fits perfectly in some third world countries.
So JCM I totally can relate to your one experience imagine what many others go thru - or DON'T, simply by staying away!
Do yourself a favor - stick to places that provide an easy and accesible platform to do business with
I also believe that the Breslau piece I got would have gone much higher on Heritage and even Stacks.

Jeff's first post, immediately put said auction house in my questionable category. His second post, pushed it a bit further towards the ones "to avoid". Wybrit's lucky turn of events, sounded like a change of heart from the consignor or the auctioneer and that was the final push into the "to avoid" list. If Zohar doesn't win this beautiful taler, I'll sue them.
