Looks nice, probably a Brother Jonathon shipwreck coin.

Seems ok for a MS61. They can be a lot worse looking that this.

RYK, are you saying that based on the date only, or does the look factor into it? I am interested in the shipwreck coins, and trying to learn more about them.

I've learned from hard experience that it's almost impossible to spot a possible crack-out from a picture. I've seen many photos of gold coins that hid or diminished the presence of marks. For example I own one of the two 1838-D $5 gold pieces that PCGS has graded MS-63. It took me a while to match my coin to one shown on the Coin Facts web site, but it is the same coin.

As an MS-63 my coin does have some very light marks, but it's hard to see them in the Coin Facts photo. You need to have this coin in hand before you can make such a decision. My take is that this piece has a lot of little marks, and probably won't up-grade.

In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

Both the date and the look.

This is the same coin being discussed here:
Would you risk this or run?

Seems there's an elobarte scam here to sell this coin
