Well I finally did it...

I finally turned to the dark side. By that I mean I am on the other side of the counter. I am now on the dealer side. I am working in a coin shop here in the Dallas area. Been buying a ton of coins as of late. We do lots of bullion at the moment and also non bullion coins. It Amazes me what people sell and at what prices sometimes. Sometimes they want the moon, while other times they are super easy to deal with. Today I bought a nice 1923 S Peace Dollar Vam. Those coins are always cool. Lets see how this works out.

    Yes! Congrats!

But be very careful on talking about what comes through the door since you never know when someone's going to accuse you of being.........................a coin dealer!
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

Manning a shop is arduous. I often feel sorry for our guy in the mall here. When hours are mandated like that in a mall setting, it must be stressful. Even as we like what we do , there is a "grind". Keep the fire burning.

    I feel your pain.

I also started taking my turn behind the table at local coin shows. Sitting at the table for 8 hours stretches has is moments. I am getting to see more coins for sale (but buying few) and getting to unload some of the duplicates from my collection. I guess that makes me a "wannabe" dealer, but that's OK, once my inventory is gone, I will go back to the "collector" side of the table.

I am amazed at all the tire kickers, and guys that will ask for a price and then counter with half that number. But I don't mind all that because there are still enough pleasurable people to make it worthwhile.

I don't think I am cut out to be a dealer on a full time basis. I can't imagine making a living from coin dealing - it is tough enough as a wannabe. image
