  • I will be there browsing the tables. I never have the time to travel to the large shows, but the Tucson show is a relatively short drive, so I always visit it. I can ussually find something I can use in my collection there.

I will be there. I recently got a nice large cent with doubling in liberty from Charmy, and will be hunting for middle- and late-date large cents.

If can find a cheap ticket for Friday I will go. I have been to this show many times before with mixed success.

If I show up without bringing proof of citizenship will I be deported back to Mexico?

Dang! I might not even make it to Mesa next weekend, even though I've got family in Phoenix. Somebody give Tony T. a high five for me please.image

Even with proper papers, it's not a bad idea. imageimage
  • My take on the show:

There was good news and bad news.
    1. The good news was the weather was nearly 80 degrees and sunny.
    2. The bad news......I got NO coins. The dealers all wanted way too much for their coins.

Hopefully I'll do better next weeked Jan 28,29 at the Annual Mesa, AZ coin show:

The show was pretty busy today. Not much in the way of high-end Indian cent sales, but bought and sold a few misc collections that made it worthwhile. I had a few trays of G-XF Lincolns and Indians and a set of Buffalo Nickels (They were listed on GreatCoins.com, not my regular website). They sold very quickly, though mostly dealers bought them. They were priced very cheap and I guess only dealers buy because coins are cheap. Collectors want the right coin, dealers want the right price. Charmy was there and we divided the attention of the three Indian cent collectors there between us.

I just got home late last night from the show (7-hour drive makes for a long day!). I'd been down with bronchitis since returning from FUN so I was not as energetic as I usually am and didn't feel up to doing my usual show report (though we did manage to make it to the casino and play some poker!). For me, the show was a bit slow but I did have a couple large sales which made it worthwhile. There was steady but light public both days but, as Rick mentioned, many collectors were only looking for "good deals" and sales of more expensive material was very slow. Though I did sell a few higher end coins, most of my sales were in the under $200 range. Several other dealers said sales were down from the last January show. But I do enjoy this show, and plan to return next year!

Why of course Ricko! My son who lives in Italy had sent me a case of wine from different regions in Italy for Christmas and I brought one to the show - it was quite tasty! We also had a nice bottle of Wild Horse with dinner. image
