My first PCGS prong holder
Not sure how I feel about it yet but the prongs seem to be a bit too large and the coin is not centered in the holder. Oh well, Ill live

Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......

Worst Holder "Improvement" EVER
What was PCGS thinking? (Are they thinking?)

is there a way to opt out of them on future submissions? i haven't looked at the new forms for this year yet.
<< <i>i recently had five coins come back in pronged holders. i hate to be a complainer...and i agree with ricko that "no matter what the design, it will not satisfy everyone." however, i do not like these holders. they obscure too much of the coin.

I called yesterday, and was told that ALL holders will be Prong including Secure Plus and that if your lucky and submit soon you can get one of the last Oldies, But it appears all recent posters have also received these so Maybe the supply is out? I thought of starting a New Thread With Official 2012 Big Announcement in the title and than just put PRONG in the body and maybe someone at pcgs would respond. I Don't mind change but why Hide it? Why not make a BIG announcement of the New Improved Prong holders? Enjoy

<< <i>Like the coin pass on the holder.................Just curious what was the grade? Enjoy
The grade is VF25 and is a B1 R4 coin.

That is a VERY NICE coin. The holder, meh, hadn't seen one in hand yet so I'll decide then.
It reminds me alot of a Radioactive Hazard sign.
Too many positive BST transactions with too many members to list.
I think if has some rim writing then the prong holder works nice. If not then lose the prongs. It covers too much of the front of the coin and in my opinion that is worse then the side of the coin.
<< <i>For some coins the prongs probably work well, but I find them distracting. >>

60 years into this hobby and I'm still working on my Lincoln set!
<< <i>Your right the reverse is no way near 40 , but I still think the coin higher than a 25. I'm shooting a 35 on that obverse though. >>
No way. I will raise you a 30, but only on a good day. I have a 15 with a reverse like that! It's a solid VF25. The curls have too much wear to even approach 40, and the reverse supports my conclusion.
Love the coin BTW!
<< <i>I favor clear over white prongs. It will take time to get used to the new look. Now we can at least see
the edge. >>
You are so right, but now we block more of the front of the coin. Which sounds more important to you on the OP's coin?
<< <i>I contacted customer service. They said only prong holders from now on for all submissions; no ability to request the previous version. >>
I don't think I will be renewing my subscription. I'm not interested in the new holder.
