I generally hate "weak C's"; they are very easy to buy and very hard to sell.
I don't mind the look of the coin. The obverse seems like it has honest wear. It's probably been wiped at some point.
I am concerned about the reverse, with the rim gouge at 2:00 and the dig at 9:30. The dirt on the reverse looks almost like it's in a horizontal band across the top half, as if a mount could have been skillfully removed from that area.
I'd say 35/40 details, genuine, due to the reverse issues noted.

It may well not be from jewelry. I can't tell from the pic.

the surface color is dirty orange. i see the white balance is way off in the photo, though the holder isn't that white to begin with. it's in an old ANACS holder.
do you think the gouge is bad enough to make it genuine? (based on solely on the photos of course) at arm's length, the gouge is hardly noticeable. but i am stretching my already very long arm. just kidding.

The grading services have different standards for different coins. Your coin may grade but a modern coin with the same damage would most likely not grade.

I have to agree. I am comfortable with the coin in the ANACS holder, and the color looks much more original in the last pic than in the OP.
I am also on board with the grade.
