Tips on buying a 1907 St. G.?
Hello everyone,
I am considering taking a plunge on getting a big coin for me. A 1907 St. G. Any advice? I am not getting the high relief example at this time, though I am curious to hear any advice, things to look for, price figures, and/or stories on this beauty!
Thank you,
Jeff

Which one? High relief or low relief?
Worry is the interest you pay on a debt you may not owe.

It's quite possible that down the road that MS64's lose most of their premium to the gold price. Right now you can get a very
nice 64 for $2100-$2300. I nice looking ogh 64 sold at FUN for $2185. Just don't be disappointed that in a few years a plain old
1908 nm in MS64 sells for nearly the same price as the 1907. And even the MS65's could eventually see a lot of their premium swept
away as well. But compared to how many 1908-1928's you see, the 1907 is a "rarity." The very nice Duckor 66+ secure CAC brought over $18,000 and
really didn't look much different from a 67. Regular 66's are worth about a 1/3 of that.
I pulled the trigger on a beautiful 64 BIN on the Bay that was actually priced better than most 63's I was looking at! Pretty jazzed!
<< <i>I've got the pictures from the ebay auction, but the file size is a little too big? I don't know how I would do this? >>
Link the auction would probably be easiest then.
Else, you would want to save the pics to your own photo storage and then link from there.
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

Looks like a nice coin.
Looks perfect to me with the minor spot (?) next to the sun on the reverse.
This particular seller you could have called them up in person and made a deal that would have saved you both ebay and paypal fees ($200+)
I have done that a couple of times.
Nice coin though!

This was the upper end of the 64 price range which should have been able to get you a stickered specimen. Note also that spots do subtract about 3-5% of the value
on anything but stickered coins. I would say the quality is fairly average for a 64 grade. But if you can get it stickered it will be fair value for what you paid.
This one doesn't have as much softness/friction on the eagle's breast and no spot but typical marks.
PCGS MS64 ogh from FUN sale at $2185.
<< <i>What do you mean by a "stickered"? >>
CAC green bean sticker
Essentially a fourth party grade - indicates that CAC agrees that the coin is solid for the grade.
