Cheapest way to send 1 Lbs of coins in the mail?

So I want to ship a pound of coins. 1st class only goes up to 13 oz., then I have to use Priority which is $ 5.00 or more. Anyone want to share their secret formula on how to get it there the cheapest way. image

flat rate envelope and small flat rate box cost the same to mail.

Also, the Post Office WILL open these to inspect the contents.

I would use the Small Flat Rate Box where I could adequately protect the coins with padding.

If you choose the Flat Rate Envelope, be sure to cover the entire envelope with clear packing tape. Horizontally and vertically. Otherwise, it'll break open and the shipment will be lost.

IF you are shipping a roll of raw IKE's, spend an additional .55 cents and get a square opaque coin tube. Tape it securely closed AND to the bottom of the FR Box. If you cheap out and use a round clear plactic tube, it'll break during shipping in a small flat rate box and the coins will spill out into the box. Half Dollar and smaller denomination tubes will fit securely but not Dollars. ANY coin tube must be taped securely closed otherwise it'll open up and spill the coins out.

Coins in paper wrappers should be wrapped in bubble wrap to prevent them from splitting open.

Try not to get too cheap on your packing techniques.

    Good Luck.

I got 100 ikes in a priority box last year, wrapped in bubble and tape, think it was all of $5.
