Registry collectors - Type set friends, I need an opinion

Hi,

I bid on this 1794 Large cent but did not meet the reserve. I have been in contact with the seller and he has been very helpful and even gave me the opportunity to pay in three instalments for a total of $1,095.00.

I was wondering opinions on the coin, or the series in general before purchasing since this would be double the amount I have ever paid for a coin in my Type set. Any help or ideas?

    It's a nice coin (to me) and looks good. I have dealt with the seller before and was satisfied. For Type purposes, you could probably save another $200 by going with the 1795 Plain Edge in that grade, but the asking price for this piece seems pretty fair.

    It's slightly dark with uneven reverse wear, but try to find a better one at that price!

    I agree with Keith about the seller and the coin but I think the price is a little high.

    Thanks guys, I am going to think about it tonight and read the comments tommorrow morning and will probably get it.
