2011-W Silver Eagle Unc Sellout Poll?

When will it sell-out from the Mint? It could be the lowest in the W mintmarked MS series, and currently way under the 2006-W mintage.

EDITED to update current mint sales as of Jan 5, 2012: 291,000 Add 100k 25th sets to this for the overall total of ~391,000.

UPDATE 12/27: US Mint reduced the 11W from $50.95 to $45.95 today.

While its certainly a possibility, with the price of silver at close to its lowest for the year (under $30) and the US Mints price at the second highest its ever been, ($50.95 down from $60.95) I'm thinking lots of folks are going to pass. I know that I have a half a dozen that I spent $60.95 for which is simply a loss for me)

Will it mean special interest in the 2011-W? Possibly but quite a bit of time will pass before that occurs.

Of course this is only my opinion based upon the overall dissing that the 2011 Silver Eagls have received so far.

BTW, the mintage for the 2006 includes the 250,000 included in the 20th Anniversary sets, does your quoted mintage include the 100,000 included in the 25th Anniversary Sets?

Thanks Lee, the 2006 mintages are directly from Eric J's book. The 2011's are as reported by NN last week + 100k. [no update today as usual?]

I agree with your reasoning sales have been soft so far with them at $50.95 each currently. That is a BIG spread from spot -- and should have retracted accordingly. This suppression could bode well for the date in the long run.

How do these usually work? Do they sell until the end of the year, until the supply is exhausted, until the 2012-W is released, or whenever they feel like pulling the plug?

As derryb implies -- whenever they quit selling (vs sellout). When either happens is the question.

They will sell until the 2012w is released. There were plenty minted. If you look at the 11w AGE 1oz, FS coins, they tend to mint a similar mintage to what sold the previous time. Of course a few items have got hot, but they probably minted 50k of the Pr Buff, 400K 11w ASE, 12K 11w AGE. They minted 850K of the ASE proof which is sold out and they minted 860K the previous year (950K for the 11 with the set).

They will be around for a while.

I think they most likely minted around 500k and will sell them until they run out....this does not include the 25th Set coins

I like what you are thinking and if they were really smart, they'd do that exact thing and sell em at a premium. Limit: 5 per HH

Or how about selling them as "2012 Silver Eagles with the Obverse of 2011"?

could be that theyll be sitting in vaults with the rest of the stuff the mint has there ( like the dollars )

Still no updates on the last weeks mint sales of these -- if anyone has them, please post. Interesting split so far of forumoids -- most think either in the next week OR many more months.

I could not find the mint's scheduled release date for the 2012-W yet. As I recall, these always have sold out long before the next release.

Let's see. The Mint could drop the price due to the price of silver and put them in the "Last Opportunity" category to stimulate sales. They won't sell out but they may sell a bunch.

I hope the stop, but I doubt they will. I have a sealed box of 10 from the first shipment, and if warrented I'll send them in for first strike. For now they can just sit in the box and age.

These will sell till they are out of them at 400 to 500K mintage or until the 2012W is released. I'm not sure if they stop sales like they do with some products.
