2012 U.S. Mint Proof Set Release Date

Does anyone here have nay idea when the Mint will announce the release of the 2012 proof sets? They released them in mid January last year, so I am confused as to why the Mint hasn't announced a release date for this year.

Does anyone have any idea when they might be released?

No kidding. They've been going up and up, and now metals are down a bit.
Will the mint price them as per last year and then some, or realistic?

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

  • When are they to stop the dollar coins and will these sets be the only way to get them?

Looks like 2010 sets might have some low mintage numbers, relatively speaking.
Gold and silver are valuable but wisdom is priceless.
  • I'm looking at the Mint's site, but do not see a release date for the full silver and regular proof sets. I am on the 2012 schedule product listings, and the most recent one listed is the Presidential $1 Proof Set slated for 2/23. Would you mind putting up a link to where you got the dates?

...i think he's talking about the annual sets that have everything in them.

  • Thanks for the links, but those are for the ATB Silver Sets, not the full minor set, quarters set, and presidential set (14 coins total).

That is what I am looking for. The full 2012 14-coins Silver and Clad sets.

All the dates listed were for the 2011 sets.

There is no date yet for the 2012 sets.

  • Any idea why they are taking so long to post these sets? It's getting a bit later than usual in comparison to the past.

  • Since we're talking about the 2012 silver sets and wondering about their pricing, can anyone say why I can't find a pricing schedule similiar to the mint's gold pricing schedule. At least with the gold price schedule you could see where the price for gold coins is going based upon the current market. (Not trying to hijack the thread.)

Illinoisracing: I tend to think that the mint will be releasing the $1 presidential coins similiar to how they release the half dollars. Either in their current form of one or two coin sets. Quite possibly they might release them in some type of bag lots. After all, their cancellation notice did say that they would release enough for collectors. Therefore I think they will still be releasing a proof set of SF and like I said either in some form of bag count or in collector rolls. Anyway, this would be my best guess..............

The mint is waiting for the price of silver to creep back up so it can either maintain it's high prices or even raise them. If it were to maintain last years pricing with the current price of silver, there would be whoops and hollars from all over. The clad sets are delayed just to toss a red herring into my conspiracy theory. image
