The PCGS MS60 Peace dollar arrived today

braddickbraddick Posts: 24,870 ✭✭✭✭✭

And I doubt it'll change anyones mind, but I do like it. It's just unusual enough to place in my keeper box. I've run across prettier Peace dollars, to be sure, but I keep coming back and looking at this one.
Again, I know there will be plenty of you that will strongly dislike the toning.

Here are my two shots of it, taken just moments ago:

  • Thats not a 60 either. At least a 62 probably a 63. Nice coin!

No, it's got a ton of marks on the reverse and a long, deep dig right across the hair of Liberty (seen in the photo just left of 3:00).

What don't you like about it? The AT?

A UNC pocket piece ???? More like a gouged, banged up cull that was treated because there was no down side and submitted most likely before the AT shart storm a few years back.

The toning is dark for my taste, but I like the reverse.

Looks like a very well struck Peace dollar.
As common as the 1922 is, the strike on yours appears to be better than so many out there; hair detail, reverse "Peace" lettering, etc.

I am assuming that your example is a P issue. Yes?

    It is a Philly.
Looking too at the slab it appears to have been graded a few months ago.

Accurately graded in my opinion, and I have a hunch it looks more colorful in hand. I like it.
