Why does the $/oz go UP as you buy large silver bars?

With most things, as you buy larger quantity the price per item goes down. I am looking to invest in some silver and was trying to keep the number of bars/coins to a minimum. You can buy 1 oz bars near spot or at least around $30 right now, but I can't seem to find a 10oz bar below $330.

And if you go up to a 100 oz bar, it becomes closer to Spot too.
The reason is that 10 oz bars are the most wanted, therefore the premium on them is the most.

If 10 ozers seem high, price some 3, 4, or 7 ouncers. Better yet, something with an odd weight and a handmade look. The Cool Factor.

You guys need to bookmark provident. Many of us on a stacking forum I frequent have learned to check provident before bothering with Gainsville/Apmex/etc.

10 ounce bars for just under $300ea!

Do a bit of shopping online...payment by check is cheaper.The extra cost factor is the shipping..

GoldisMoney2.com isn't a free-for-all, but it's very lightly moderated so unless you have very thick skin you may wish to stick to the 'Gold/Silver - Precious Metals' area as the "Other" section can be a bit krazy at times

I also read the Kitco forums, but I've found I visit there less and less as sometimes it seems the posters are 17 year olds who just started stacking. Still, there are some good folks over there too and like any online forum with thousands of members there is definitely something to learn there.

I think I may get a 10oz bar or two through Provident, thanks for the recommendation. A lot of people on TFMR have good things to say about them as well.

Yep Provident and goldmart.com (even a lil cheaper than Pvovident) are two of the favorites at the stacking/trading forum that I frequent - bullionstacker.com . . .
